If it comes down to replacing the dash cluster(assuming you can find a known good one) is there a way to alter mileage to match the original one or do you have to go with incorrect mileage being shown?

That's exactly like my dash cluster, sometimes worked other times not.car's been parked in garage for a couple of years or so and if I remember rightly the rev counter needle is sat pointing at about 500revs or so.Other more important things to fix on the car first[when I can work up the enthusiasm to bother] then I'll worry about cluster.

Therein lies my problem.Mechanically I can do most jobs on a car[or with help all such jobs] however when it comes to welding I'm stuck.I learned to gas weld nearly 50 years ago but it's a skill I've not used in many years,I've never learned to Mig weld and I don't know anyone who can although it wouldn't help much as my lock up garage has no electricity so if it comes to welding it's either pay a garage to do it or scrap whatever car it happens to be.

Omega General Help / Re: crank shaft sensor query.
« on: 06 December 2023, 10:42:09 »
Apart from the 5 series and 3 series BMWs I had that I blew the engines of both then the Mk1 VW Scirocco remains the most unreliable car I've ever owned[and I've owned some real dogs :D] As for the cranks sensor I don't know part numbers or anything but I'd suggest the post above by Enceladus is slightly off as my 3L was registered March 2000 and is the full facelift version and that has an oval connector.
