Omega General Help / Re: Cooling fan question
« on: 17 August 2020, 19:06:51 »
My 2002 2.6 fans always seem to run more after slow/town driving. They run for a while when the car is turned off. Never had overheating problems. The radiator is new, along with coolant. So never worried. I think it might be to do with not much air moving at the low speeds?  Someone will be along to put your mind at ease.

Thanks for the reply. Will do as you say DG and look from underneath.  :y

Thanks for the replies.  I cannot see the hole on passengers side, because of the part in the photo, above the bolt hole. Would this have to be removed, or am I looking in the wrong area? Do the pipes on drivers side unclip and move enough to allow access to the bolt? The nuts are under the car, as the wishbones look like they are the original ones, from when the car was made.

Sorry for asking, it probably is a simple job. But my brain still has bad days, since the stroke.

Hello

Can anyone tell me how to get to the back bolts inside the engine bay, on a 2ltr 1995 Omega?  I have looked on my 2002 2.6 Omega and found them, just next to where the top of the strut is bolted. But on the 1995 one, where the hole is for the bolt on passenger side, it is covered by a large part, with a heat sheild in front of it sitting above the area of the bolt access. On the drivers side, there are 3 hoses covering the access hole.

I have enclosed photos to show what I mean. Thanks in advance, for any help.

Omega General Help / Re: Best coil springs for a 2.6 Saloon
« on: 03 July 2020, 09:26:39 »
Hi Doctor Gollum

Thank you for the link to the pair of springs. I contacted the company to purchase them. They asked for my Reg No. And are now saying that they will not fit my car. It is standard setup not self levelling. I will believe the members advise on here more than their's. If I purchase the pair in your link (Kilen Code 60037), will they fit with no problems?

Sorry for asking.

Thanks for all the help. Take care

Thank DG for the quick reply. I have seen Kilen, but wasn't sure about them as I personally haven't heard of them. I will look for a pair now.

Omega General Help / Best coil springs for a 2.6 Saloon
« on: 26 June 2020, 09:29:54 »
Could anyone recommend decent coil springs for my 2.6? While it is off the road, going to change the back suspension as it is a bit tired.

I have found these, but not sure if OK, they say inconstant spring design which I understand gives the best of both worlds, in different loads and keeping the wheels on the road better. The car is a standard factory setup, no air suspension.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Glad you got it sorted. So it was a combination of the Lexmark sensor and exhaust leaking causing all your problems?

Thank you for the quick reply. I thought I had seen that somewhere, but thought best to be on safe side and check.

Omega General Help / front wishbone poly bush question
« on: 07 May 2020, 08:06:33 »
Hi everyone

Sorry I know it has probably been asked a million times, but I cann't seem to find the answer.  When fitting polybushes to the front wishbones. Can you tighten them up without the suspension being loaded, or do you have to drop car to ground as explained in how to? Also will the torque setting for them still be the same?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The how2 in the maintenance section, is very good.  Follow it and you will not have any problems. I found that the most awkward fiddly part on the 2.2 I had was unclipping the cam sensor connection.

The only piece missing in the how2, is to check the metal pipe on the back right side of the engine, for crud in it.

This is taken from the 2.0 cam cover replace, in the maintenance section.

Inspect the metal breather pipe for clogging of any contamination. if contamination present then from underneath the car undo and remove the breather pipe from the main block. Once removed you must clean thoroughly to unblock contamination. Once this is done then replace but add a smear of gasket sealant to breather and replace. Do up the two bolts until tight.

2.2 how2 http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90597.0

The pipe mentioned above is in this how2. very bottom picture http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90551.0

Hope this helps.

ATP wishbones EBAY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-SUSPENSION-CONTROL-ARM-WISHBONE-FRONT-LEFT-RIGHT-OPEL-VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B/381465196951

Complete kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-PCS-WISHBONE-COMPLETE-TRACK-CONTROL-ARMS-SET-FRONT-LEFT-RIGHT-OPEL-OMEGA-B-NEW-/323442758205?hash=item4b4eb0d23d

I have been looking at getting just the ATP and maybe fit Polybushes and lemforder back bush into the arms.  So can use the car while getting the replacements sorted?

That way don't have to worry about the tightening up of the wishbone, if using Poly bushes if I understand. Hopefully someone will correct me if wrong.

Before I ordered my NTK O2 sensor, I contacted NTK Technical Department. I gave them the  VIN:, Date registered, Registration Number. Make, Model, Engine Size and Engine Code.

The O2 that was supposed to fit my 2ltr, was the wrong one. When they checked against their files, I needed the earlier one, OTA7H-3C2 (Stock code 0420) Titanium Lambda even though my car is a 1995 first registered, so can only assume it was a ealier build? The Titania Lambda, which their webcat and other sites say fits mine, is OTA7L-3C4 (0431), which is not correct. So might be worth you contacting them, to check?

NGK Technical Email address:- technical@ngk.co.uk

NGK Webcat https://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/cars_commercial.php?type=LAMBDA%2520SENSORS

Hope this is of some help?

Still around.

Left car with MOT place, who got it through emissions. Never asked how :) I fitted a genuine GM thermostat, as the one fitted seemed to open early.

Have done a vacuum test, shows engine in good condition, so assuming no vac leaks. Done a fuel pressure test which was down slightly, so going to change out the fuel filter recently done for another one. Fuel pressure regulator seems to be working. When vac pipe is removed fuel pressure jumps up. No leak down when left for a while. So maybe with low pressure the fuel is not a mist but slightly droplets from injectors?

Car goes great, pulls even up steep hills and even happy to do national speed limits. Economy is also good.

As said in above reply, only other thing. Is that the cat is from a company I have used before on my vehicles, but it isn't a type approved. So might get a approved one.

Good luck with getting it sorted. If you manage to do it, please let me know. Will be worth finding out what it was.

Car is off the road for now, as some wagon reversed into passenger side front wing. So took out wheel well liner to check for hidden damage. While under there checked on wishbone bushes, as it is pulling to one side when braking. Brake system checks out ok, but wishbone bushes look ready for changing. So got poly bushes for front and normal for back ones. Read that polys give better handling, also the wishbones can be tightened up with wheels in the air. Then got to find someone closer than WIM to do geometry setup, not using manufacturers recommended ones.
