Looks staged to me. Why is the tow truck stopped there with no other cars or people around, why does it set off so abruptly and why was there someone who just happened to be directly recording the truck at the time....

Nah...definitely staged imho....

Still feel for the other car owners though....

Apparently happened 2 roads from one of my colleagues in Abbey wood SE London.

Not quite sure of the exact story behind it all but was not staged, a lot of very upset people and at least 2 written off cars

Neither, tow vehicle was taxed, MOT’d and insured.

Round our way, there would be no MOT or tax (civil, not criminal offences) and plates come back to that vehicle

Even Pikeys wouldn't stoop low enough to be interested in one of those nasty modern beetle things, surely? ;)

It looked to be a genuinely rare one... With the same lump as the higher output 1.8T Audi TT.

I wouldn't voluntarily buy a Beetle, but with a gun to my head it would be that model...

Ahh, the least inspiring "sports" car I've ever driven.

But regardless of what's under the bonnet, a horribly compromised Golf for fashion victims, sporting a built-in flower vase, has sub-zero desirability IMHO.

I should have been clearer, the gun would need to be loaded...
