Simple job even for a neanderthal like me. Unclip the back and remove the old battery. :y
I ended up buying 5 Maxell batteries for £1.54 including the postage. Five minute job. :y

Ah, but did you seal it up to waterproof or at least water resistant standard? ??? ???
My battery was changed by a chain jeweler for £8-95, but they could have sent it away for this treatment adding £X pounds; "No thanks I said"! :P :P
After three weeks the damn watch broke anyway!! ::) ::) ::) ;)

If you can buy five batteries for £1.54 including P&P it makes you wonder what they cost to produce.
About two thirds of SFA is my guess. ;)

Get my watch batteries changed by a guy on our local market for £3.50. They last 3 or 4 years. When he was on holiday i tried the Timsons hut in the Sainsburys car park and he quoted £12. :o I just politely declined his kind offer but the fella behind me went off on one about profiteering bastids. ;D

Down here in the expensive south, Timpsons charge more than that, so I usually go to a local, non chain jeweller where the price is about £5, fully sealed. The battery I replaced the other day was in another national chain jeweller as it was more convenient. Then the watch terminates itself!! :o :o :D ;)

Because post "B" , and also what China may do, in the UK we could have no electric, so no power for mobile devices to be recharged, no tv's and radios as the broadcasters will be cut off too, and for a while the watch on your wrist will be the few ways of telling the time. Wind up watches will then come back into fashion as batteries become another 'shortage'!! :o :o :o
;D ;D ;D. Now I joke of course, but do you know today there was a big national campaign started to encourage us British people to have an emergency "grab bag" handy near the front door with torches, first aid kit, water, etc!!! :o :o
We didn't even have all that rubbish during the Cold War, so what the hell do the authorities expect to happen?! :o :o :D

Always worn a watch from a very young age about the only time I take it off is when I'm in the bath/shower.Never had an expensive watch[my cheap ones tell the time just as well]a jewellers on the local market does battery changes for £2.50p a go so that's where I go on the few occasions when a battery is needed[they do last a good few years].

A proper watch shop will replace the seal and pressure test, and in a clean environment, and that what you pay for.
If you're not bothered, DIY it, simples. But buy a better battery that the 10 batteries for 99p eBay shite. Because they are shite. Might get a few months from a digital one, but a lot of the fake/ebay/old ones die quickly with any movement watches.

My Casio cost £9.99 from the well known designer watch shop Argos. ;) It has an integral black plastic strap and came with a 10 year battery guarantee. :y
Broadly speaking it 'does what it says on the tin'.
I also have a Pulsar and a Rotary which I suppose are classed as 'midrange' much like Falken tyres. I rarely wear either.

Same here, buddy ;D I got the one with the gold on and, later, the silver one. :y
Hardly ever worn them, though, the butterfly clasp is a bit of a pain (opening) with everyday use. I said I'd wear them for nights out or special occasions, but I don't go out after dark and my special occasion events are mainly funerals nowadays. ;D

All the boys had the same Timex for Christmas back in the sixties. The only difference being the choice between a black or silver dial.

I like wearing a watch when out and about, especially walking the dog in the woods. Don't want to be arsed pulling my phone out all of the time.

They tend not to ride in the woods. Too many trees in their way. ::)

Rolex seem to have the uncanny knack of making a £10,000 watch look so gaudy and trashy that it looks like a £10 watch from a petrol station. :)

The £9,700 ladies Rolex watch that I have been tempted to buy looks every inch the high gold, very bejewelled beautiful item of jewellery that the price tag suggests 8) 8) :-* :-*
Just cannot justify spending that kind of cash, if even I had it spare, on a watch though, and more importantly the risks someone faces when wearing one is just too great :'( :'(

In the '80's, in those overseas markets, you could buy a 'gold Rolex' where the hands ran backwards! It made for interesting 'helpful' comments when flashing it in a bar. ;D
