Omega General Help / Drivers door keeps unlatching
« on: 30 April 2021, 12:32:27 »
Got a problem where the drivers door keeps coming unlatched. Tried  adjusting the keep on the pillar. . . No difference. Thinking it may be wear on the actual latch part fitted into the door.  Any advice please

General Car Chat / Big thanks to biggriff re fuel pump
« on: 12 March 2021, 19:52:13 »
Would like to thank biggriff for going the extra mile in helping me out with this fuel pump problem. He duly sent me a box full of pumps and associated gubbins so that I could get the omega back up and running. Had and still having a nightmare  with the e bay supplier. Had to buy 3 different pumps on their advice. . .First two wrong parts. 3rd was the right one but they then cancelled the order saying they only had 2 and they are both damaged ::)
So thanks biggriff the omega is running sweet again.  Oof at its best :y :

Moral is:  As TB says . . Avoid e bay at all costs if possible  ::)

Hi guys
not been on here much recently  . . .2 reasons ..    Had Covid quite bad , am sort of recovered now  . . .but have the hanging on "Long Covid " symptons still.   The other reason is I have to use the old PC upstairs to get onto the site, for some reason my laptop won't allow me access and says I am banned from the site . I know next to "nuffin" about I.T. etc. so just using upstairs PC for OOF access when something important comes up .

So just a heads up to say I am still about , as had a message or two from OOF members asking if i was OK  ( thanks for that)

Regards, Al   :y

Omega General Help / Fuel pump issue ? is it fubared ?
« on: 28 February 2021, 09:53:42 »
Hi All . .  .not been on here much latley  . . .long story  . . . but have an issue . .

 2001 2.6 Estate . . .     3  days ago used the car for a 50 mile round trip , all running perfectly.

Then 2 days ago  went to use car and although it fires a revs to about 1000rpm it then cuts out after about 1 sec . Tried to re start and same thing happens several times.

Seem to remember advice on here was to give the underside of the tank a thump . . .  did so  . . and car started an ran perfectly  :-\    There are no warning lights on .

Same happened yesterday  . . .had to thump the tank  after it had been left overnight.

Assume this is a fuel pump issue  . . .is replacememnt the answer or can they be serviced . ?   TIA   AL

Omega General Help / windscreen demisting issue - advice please
« on: 14 November 2020, 08:08:12 »
There seems to be an issue on my CDX climate control . When trying to keep the screen demisted in these damp and wet conditions , the passenger side seems to work very well. But the drivers side seems very down on "blowing power".  Could it be a pipe has been disloged or not fully located or thinking it may be an issue or fault with the climate control panel itself.
Aircon does not work,  but if that was the issue why is the passenger side  good ?

Betting that any reply will say getting to the pipes/ducts in the dash is gonna be a **** of a job  ::) ::)

Any advice would be great  . . .Thanks Guys    :y :y

Omega General Help / Glove box Replacement question
« on: 04 November 2020, 05:06:51 »
Hi all
had some scrote get into my Omega a while ago and forced open the glove box.  The lid/door itself is damaged where it locks at either end after being forced open.  Can just the lid/door be replaced or does the glove box come as one complete assembly.  TIA       Al :y

General Car Chat / Big Thank You to Nick W
« on: 02 November 2020, 16:57:13 »
Once again the "Man from Kent"  has excelled. He came over to 'Saffend  today to do my rear wheel bearing .
What a pig of a job to do they are  :o :o :o
But as usual Nick just got on  with it , ignoring several head bumps and some blood letting from his finger  :( :(
Can't thank you enough Nick , and sorry it took longer than you thought .
Top Oofer is Nick  and once again Oof at its best with member assistance .
We had a nice bit of grub in cafe afterwards to sweeten things a bit  ;) ;)

If we ever get another curry night  . .  .I owe you one Nick

Regards , a very grateful  Al       :y

Omega General Help / Rear wheel bearing special tool Hire/loan
« on: 01 November 2020, 10:05:03 »
Would any of you fine Gents or Ladies   know anywhere that I could hire /loan  / beg / steal or borrow the special tool kit for doing the rear wheel bearing on the Omega.

I have started to do the job , but it looks like using the proper special  tool set is the only way to go .

I seem to recall that one of the Oofers had one and was offering it for "Hire" on his signature at the end of  their posts. I may be wrong here as memory is not as good as it was  :-\ :-\

TIA for any help on this     Regards, Al :y

General Car Chat / total wheel bearing revolutions
« on: 05 October 2020, 16:04:39 »
Just worked out that the original omega estate wheel  bearing I am soon to change has done circa
158 million revolutions during it's lifetime on the car covering 200,000 miles . :o :o :o

Possibly got to add a few more though  for all the distance it has done in reverse     . . . or does the odometer still clock up in reverse ? ;D ;D

17" alloys fitted with 235 x 45 x 17 tyres . . . for anyone who wants to double check for me  ;D ;D ;D ;D

A totally useless but interesting bit of statistic info  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Omega General Help / Rear wheel bearing estate /saloon . . .Same ?
« on: 27 September 2020, 09:43:55 »
Hi all      found a supplier for a SKF rear wheel bearing for the 2.6 CDX estate at £28  which seems cheap for a SKF.  But it only says saloons on there compat chart .  Do the estste and saloon rear wheel bearings differ ?

Advice on the OEM part No. would be helpful if someone knows it .   TIA     Al   :y

I don't normally get involved in this sort of thing and not sure if this has not already been covered on OOF,  . . .but reports I have read /heard say that Sue  Barker , Matt & Tuffers  from Question of Sport are all being sacked /put out to grass by the BBC.
Names in the hat for new presenter and a team captain appear to be  Alex Scott  and Jermaine Jenus. ?
Not too impressed with that after Ms. Scott's  previous attempts to pull the racist card and voice her opinion on that  at every available opportunity .
I am now wondering if the London Mayor may be asked to captain a team  ::) ::)

IMO    Q of Sport is a very enjoyable light hearted programme , enjoyed by all who watch it .  Who is calling the shots these days at the Beeb ?  >:( >:( >:( >:(

« on: 10 September 2020, 09:42:34 »
Hi all ,
being one of "senior" years and not much knowledge of computers  . . .I need a bit of help with my forum homepage.

I don't know what I have done but for quite a while now my "Homepage" opens as General Discussion and not the usual homepage index  :-\

Probably dead simple to change but I don't have a clue how to do it  :-[ :-[ :-[

Can someone direct me through it by posting  . ;) ;)

Regards & TIA    Al  :y
