Map light bulb question
« on: 11 February 2017, 15:31:54 »

I have an Omega 2003 and want to replace the map bulbs. Are the 501 bulbs suppose to pull out of the bulb holder or is it an all in one?

The BULB holder is a PA66/6 and the bulb looks like it's an all in one unit.

Thanks

I was just about to change a blown bulb in the puddle light and can't work out how to lever the lens off without breaking it or do I have to remove the door panel for access?

All it says in Haynes[admittedly for pfl/mfl cars]for the puddle lights is to carefully lever the lens from the door card. Can't see fl cars being any different to this but I've never done it so don't know for sure.Again the interior lights[same book]is prise out light unit-with doors shut and lights turned off-and map lights should pull out, with main light being a festoon type.

The bulb comes out the front.

You'll probably have to glue the lenses back on.

So puddle lens off first then the bulb comes out and supper glue the lens back on.  :y

What about the bulb and bulb holder in the map light. Does the 501 bulb pull out of the black plastic bulb holder?

I'm trying to get mine out too! I have been pulling on the bulbs form the front but they seem very resistant
& I'm nervous I'll squeeze too hard & break one in situ.
Will let you know when I'm successful.
Perhaps you can do the same...

Found the only way of getting the puddle light cover off was force which then breaks the fixing to the outer case.
Replace bulb and check all is working, once happy a few blobs of glue on the edges of the lense cover then push the entire fitting back into the door card. :y
