Topic: My MV6 has a list (Read 3491 times)

I have just recognized an issue and I've absolutely no idea what to do.
The body has a list to the left, it does not stand horisontally like 2 heavy people were sitting on the left front and back seats. I remember I measured once the riding height on the left and compared to friend's car then thought it is lowered and replaced all 4 springs with shock absorvers together recently.
I have been searching through the internet for this issue but didn't find anything like this except a guy from the bmw forum whose stupid mechanic built in two left side arm (left handed upside down on the right)
Could be the same with mine? What else?

First stop, have a look at your rear springs, maybe a broken one

Is it possible that the left/right springs are not the same? (strength, length)

I've only changed the rear springs on an omega, but I think the fronts are longer than the back ones. Is it possible the shorter rears have been put on one side and the longer fronts On the other, causing the list?

Possibly. Either broken or replacements not fitted as axle pairs.

Always replace steering and suspension parts in axle pairs.

Need to get under there and have a look for breakages or non matching shocks and springs per side.

Fronts and rears are very different. They simply wouldn't fit.

I don't know if the shocks have any preload, but if so it could be a dead shock absorber. Any signs of fluid leakage?

Also possible. Would be suprised to see such a marked difference in ride height on failed shocks, but defo worth a look.

If shocks show a major oil leak, bin them anyway though.

All shocks are brand new.
Originally it had a self levelling rear suspension but as it has worn out I decided to replace it to a normal. And because I always have had a low riding problem (chassis scratched the speedbumps especially with passengers) I replaced all the 4 together.
-4 new normal schocks (cheapo german aftermarket)
-4 set of springs from a breaker. The two pairs showed the same height standing on the ground.
I would understand that I wasn't lucky with the second hand springs, but I don't expect that 2 out of 4 are weaker. Can one failing or uneven spring cause an issue like this?

So on re reading. The car has low ride height on one side.

The shocks and springs are changed for new shocks and second hand springs, and the problem remains unchanged. Is that correct...?

(I have in the back of my mind... there was an issue with an aftermarket spring maker, possibly Kyb, who made the drivers side front spring longer to counteract the weight of the driver. Or so the thread suggested. It looked like the wrong spring to me though. Could it be the breaker has added an odd spring to a set with one broken and sold them as is..? )

Yeah, probably the breaker...
I'm bringing her back to the garage today for inspection where the wheel alignment was set. (I also have got problems with steering and braking)
Then I think I will swap the L/R springs to see if it will lean to the right or not.

I'm just coming from the shop and the wheel alignment was checked. Everything is okay, green on the display ... etc.
But i hate driving it! It's dangerous as well as if I lift my hands off the wheel in continues turning in! And this is also a new issue after replacing the springs and shocks.
I'm getting disappointed about her

ok the "list" and your turning in issue must be related. My suggestion is to bin the springs from a breaker and bit new - start with the rear pair

also see if you can post some pictures of the springs up for us

I am bringing her for putting in new springs to the rear on next Wednesday. The available brands are:

kayaba
roc
kilen
lesjofors

Does anyone know any pros or cons for these springs?

all i can add is that Kayaba seem to be the "standard" replacement here and reasonably priced as well

How do I always have such a bad luck???
I bought a pair of original KYB RX5416 coils in box. Brought them with the car to my mechanic this morning and came to the office. The guy has just phoned me: one is in, but the other is for a sedan!! WTF?!?!?!?!?
Of course there is no chance to get replacement today all over the city.

Update:
New KYBs in. Issue is the same. It has the list to the left, and is hard to keep the car on the road while driving.
No idea what to do

Shocks the same on the back? Do you have self levelling (I know MV6 does not here, but over there MV6 is often near Elite spec)

It was just built to normal as the self levelling system has gone. However the rear shocks are cheapo aftermarket ones from german ebay, but same type and brand new. Next I am going to check the surfaces where the spring stands upper and also the bottom of it.

New idea: might caused by the front!
Is it true that the V6s have different front springs on the left and right? Mine from the breaker looked the same. If yes, could 1-2cm difference at the front cause 3-4cm at the back diagonally? (i.e. front right is 2cm taller that is why the rear left is deppened by 4cm ?)

I've found the opposite information on german omega forums. They say on V6 models the driving side spring coil (left here) has to be 10mm taller. This is exactly the situation with my old springs that came out. Even the GM numbers are different.
I think you can use the same on either side because you are driving on the left and the car is well balanced with the steering and the driver on the rigth.

First time I ever hear about this $:-\$ But as usual, I may very well be wrong. Still would be very, very peculiar in my opinion to have different lengths of front springs on ANY car. So, I will keep my opinion until I get an explanation why

herer comes the solution!
I took the car to a smith who makes new springs on demand or renews, cut, enlength used ones. He asked the first sight if I put the same type on both sides and told I should not have done this, because in right driving countries V6s have to have longer and harder spring on the left. At the end he found that my car had different springs, but they were swapped. Theen took them out, added 2cm to each, put back to the right side and that's it!! It stands now like it had the bad road package

Ok, I hate to throw a spanner, or in this case a spring compressor into the works but, Can anyone actually confirm this? I changed the springs on my Omega without any instruction to say the springs are different left to right and, of course I just threw them on... I know it's 50/50 to get it right first time but I would expect instruction on it???
Iirc, I'm sure I checked them out and I think I would see 10mm....

Afaik in the UK you should have the identical springs on L/F. I assume only we use taller on the left because we have the driver on the left(and are driving on the right side of the road of course.)
