Tow bar
« on: 14 May 2013, 14:30:44 »

Hi,
Just a quicky, I have looked on the site but not found answer yet.
I would like to know if the tow bar for a saloon will be the same for any year/model as so many for sale state either 94-99 or 99-2003.
I have looked at pictures of many on ebay and they all look the same but just want to check just incase measurements differ.
Any help appreciated.

`99-03 towbars are longer due to the re-designed rear bumper

Technically the earlier car's tow bars are different from a facelift towbar because the facelift car has a deeper bumper, so if you get a towbar specifically from a PFL car & fit it to a facelift car, the towball will be very close to the bumper.

Hi All,
Thanks for replies, do you think it would be o.k to have it tight to bumper, would I have to cut bumper, I have a opel omega purchased in 2000 in geneve so do you think I am a facelift or would I need to check build date somehow.
Any pics of the different bumpers would help, I will search site for pics.

I have a 2001 model and I've fitted a Witter tow bar personally. It is close to the bumper but no cutting required. I'll measure the components/fittings for you if it will be of any help?

Yes thanks measurements will help, so are all the witter ones for the earlier models, or is it because later models have the removable one.

I guess yours is a facelift - you can confirm - the master elec window controls should be on the drivers door, and the front grill should go up with the bonnet when opened.  If thats the case you will need towbar for 99 - 2003 models ;)
