interior light staying on
« on: 04 January 2020, 16:15:46 »

I'm having a problem with interior light staying lit all the time even when driving. Thought it might be a door light switch so checked for corrosion etc all seemed good and the puddle lights all illuminate and go off correctly .The only way was to unplug roof light unit
Any ideas thank you all

Had the same once. In my case it was the main light switch. Even though it was pushed in lights were on unless i held pressure on it. Solution was to change main light switch.

Before you buy anything, pull the light knob out and make sure it pushes fully home :y

Try pushing/holding your current light switch firmly against the dash to see if the light goes out.

Unlikely as that would blow the fuse, whereas switch wear/failure wouldn't necessarily  ;)

I would definitely prove/disprove the switch before ordering a replacement.

Can be done trivially with a meter.

Omegod managed to obtain a main light switch for me(complicated piece of kit) i tried it but wouldn't  function at all. In true OOF fashion he then sourced another elite switch and interior light cluster and sent them on trust. I tried switch and new cluster and everything now works fine.  He truly went out of his way to solve the problem thankyou.  Also thanks to other OOfers for help .......and yes Doc Gollam you were right :D :D :D :D
