Restoring the ex-plod to something close to job spec, as there's a couple of shows I'd like to take it to. I've got a couple of Woodway EL13W alternating flash relays, and the associated wiring diagrams. So far I've got a lovely set up in the front (with the all important removable masters for road use), it works perfectly with two test bulbs.
Only thing is, when I connect it into the main beam wiring behind each light, and connect it all together - both main beam bulbs illuminate fully. Then they both flash a little brighter as the relay fires them. Presumably this is because the circuit is fully complete.
I've spliced into the loom (where it was originally removed from) - white wire each side. I've then reconnected the white wires, because otherwise (I think) I'll have no normal main beam at all. I've currently got the positive feed into the flasher relay coming through an 87 relay, if that can be altered to make things work properly?
Flasher unit has four connections -
12v + POSITIVE FEED IN
0v GND
A+ TO LH BULB
B+ TO RH BULB.
All fuses in the passenger compartment are intact and there's no sign of them having been previously cut.
There is the remains of a connection coming out of the yellow/white wire, behind the headlamp switch. There was a tiny bit of matching wire soldered into the RH main beam feed that I've now cut and spliced into myself... but I don't just want to connect it up willy nilly, I think the smoke will escape from the wires...
