Headlines are designed to grab your attention in a short, snappy soundbite.

"Millions of Chinese to get British Passports" for example.

Unfortunately this soundbite usually misleads from the truth of a given report or article. In this case the fact that some Hong-Kong residents who hold British Overseas Citizen passports will be given the opportunity to move to the UK and, ultimately, apply for full UK citizenship. This isn't news.

The fake/misleading part is that the article often reflects the headlines rather than the facts of a situation.

Read it today that Boris is offering up to three million HK Chinese entry here for five years. After another year, they can apply for UK citizenship. Don't know how that's going to work and where the hell will we put them all. ;D Sorry, can't do links. :-[
Glasgow, with the rest of them  :D

Especially in moose, sorry Nantucket, grey :D

It was a shame they couldn't be bothered to develop/build it properly... They still had the captive nuts in the chassis rails for the Mk3s antirollbar mounts ;D

The Omega was the car the Scorpio should have been :-\

Acquired a new rear bumper to replace the battered and bruised one that came with the car.

Likewise, except the Mk1  ;) Dad bought a very late '99S boggle eyed pig, aka 2.3 16v Ultima estate in metallic black, actually looked ok with smoked headlights :D

He got rid when the heater matrix blew all over his leg on the A11. It must have really pissed him off because he replaced it. With an '03 Scenic ;D

I'm sorry, but whichever way you look at it, it looks like someone drove a 1.8GL through Helfrods.  :-\

It's probably the price that makes the car look cheap and tacky... If it were £45-55k, I could understand that, as that's about where decent Cosworths are now.

Think of a large number and then multiply it by six? :)
And then add a zero.

I intend to make a bit of an effort to avoid buying Chinese made stuff from now on. Not entirely possible I know, but if we all made a bit of an effort we might just stop them from buying the world.
Too late. They already own most of Africa, the Caribbean, Central America and effectively Australia given that most of their exports are to China.

And the countries they don't own, they sell to and effectively control either by buying up companies or flooding markets and smothering local producers.

The difficulty is that we have to pay alot more for decent stuff because fewer producers make things, and even then the chances are the items are made in China (albeit with strict quality control... this being the primary difference between the genuine items and knocked off tat).

The only way to stop China doing anything is to not buy anything/stop using companies operating with Chinese money and given as that is fundamentally impossible on a global level, it's not going to happen.

The other thing that might just do it is to stop sending them materials. Although this would mean effectively shutting down several economies around the world.

I saw one on the telly the other month .... Salvage Hunters. They paid something like  £6/7k & then spent £30+k on a rebuild - it was a rotbox. Sold it it for £40k

 :y :y :y :y

I think £5600 could buy a reasonable house in '73' :y

My parents paid less than half that for their 3 bed semi a couple years before hand.
House prices in Mancchester haven't improved much... ;D
