I agree with Skrunties diagnosis.

Well, the bonnet switch checked out electrically, so I removed the power sounder.

Batterys FUBAR'd and leaked over PCB.  What a surprise  :(

Will try and post some pics later.

Ok.  I'll give it a try.

Thanks.

My alarm has started going off usually about 5 mins after locking the car.  Horn sounder and faint power sounder.  Unlock the car and silence power sounder then re-lock and all ok then.

Very annoying.

Where should i start looking?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CD-Rs and CCR2006
« on: 14 April 2008, 19:31:39 »
I agree that cd-r's wont play in a ccr2006, however, using Nero software I was able to make a copy cd that would play on any cd player and it works just fine in my ccr2006.  If i've understood what Dave has told us before, the problem is in the way that a pc "writes" the data onto the disk, so maybe Nero does this differently even though it wrote at 48 speed.

...... and also bridge the two Black / Yellow wires in the socket for the brake light current sensing socket (like a relay socket which I found behind and to the left of the glove compartment).........

The trailer check control was only about £16 and will keep a permanent check on your brake lights.
Does this remove the necessity for linking the 2 black / yellows?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Towbar wiring
« on: 04 December 2007, 16:34:17 »
I need to fit a towbar to my facelift estate.  That's not a problem, however for the wiring, do i just scotchlok (yuck) into the existing loom / plug or should I invest in one of those fancy new multiplex systems?
If I go the old fashioned route, does anyone have a list of what to connect to? (12N only)

All advise gratefully received.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDC2 getting forgetfull
« on: 05 July 2007, 23:21:08 »
My multichanger has started getting forgetfull about where it was on which track of which disc, and so returns to track 1 disc 1 most of the time when i switch the ignition on.

Changed both the head unit and the CDC2 the other day, and the same thing is still happening  :(  This pair used to be ok.
There must be some commonality, but if it was losing power to the changer then surely it would be asking for the code every time.

Any thoughts?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: blaupunkt cdc2 changer
« on: 17 April 2007, 12:14:59 »
Ahh - mine does that sometimes.  If you shut the ignition off when it's playing a cd, then start up again it comes up with an error.  If you press the button to take it to radio mode, then back to cd mode it resets itself and carries on from where you were.

These cdc2's give an error if the actual disc playing part isn't at the home (bottom) position when you apply power to it.  Found out the hard way when I took one of mine apart.  You would need to remove all covers, and  then turn the big plastic drive cog  using a terminal driver or similar to get the carrige into the lower position.  The drive motor for carrige position is behind the pcb where the multi-plug connects.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR500 / CCR600 question
« on: 10 April 2007, 11:02:00 »
Does anybody know if all CDR500 or CCR600 head units will work with steering wheel controls?
Just picked an omega up fitted with a CR300 unit so no display and works rubish.  This is to go into a minifacelift CDX.  Someone seems to have removed the CDC2  multichanger, but just fitting a cd/radio in the dash would be fine.
