£800 later and still problems. Im going mad! x30xe
« on: 19 February 2010, 15:14:29 »

OK guys heres the story.

Before xmas the car was cutting out and lossing power.
Checked it and code 13   O2 Sensor 1 Open Circuit came up.
Got the car decatted and 2 new 02 sensors fitted.
Whilst in i wanted the timing belt changed.
New kit on and one tensioner siezed and melted the belt hence slipped timing and bent valves.
Got a good 2nd hand engine and had it fitted.
The car is still doing the same old problem of lossing power.
When it starts to lose power it you let it die it will turn and turn for ages then go ok.
Or if it starts to die dip the clutch and put accel to the floor.
It revs to about 2000 farting and banging then 3000 farting and banging and so on untill it hits the limiter an clears itself.
No lights come on when it does this. It might go fine then for 10 miles or 2 miles. There is nothing regular about it.
Plus when driving the EML comes on and like pulses but it doesnt effect the car at all. It will go off again itself with no probs at all.
Had probs with battery and alt charging since i got it back so sorted out the charging probs thinking it wouldnt help matters but its still doing it.
Had it cheaked today and the only code coming up is again 13   O2 Sensor 1 Open Circuit.

Where do i go from here. I am starting to hate the car now.
After changing, Engine, 02 sensors, decatted, ECU, etc its still going like shit. Very very fed up now.

Any ideas what could be up.
Any advice or feedback would be great.

Thanks

Any air leaks?

Valve timing OK?

Fuel blockage/starvation?

Also worth checking out the HT stuff, and also ensure engine earths are good, and alternator not putting out more than 14.5v

As it was doing it before and after the o2 sensors were changed (along witheverything else)  i'd be looking at a wiring issue between sensor plug and ecu.   I've fixed a few cars where the wiring in the loom side of the plug has been pulled out and its not imediately obvious.
Hope this is of some use.
