Title: Rear suspension adjustment arm
Post by: Jsomega on 11 September 2019, 14:32:17
I am trying to locate a new rear suspension arm for offside or 2 , to replace, as can't be adjusted for tracking.  Anyone know where or if new ones are available?  Or will it have to be second hand? Have been searching but no joy so far.

I think new ones can be about £100 each, so no smallfry, however they should last donkeys years - a lot longer than front on cars which are really a service item.

However used can be had, and as above, should last a good while. The main issue is you need heat to free them up, clean the threads etc to allow for adjustment. I assume this is your issue. If you're able remove, get round to a garage to warm them, grease them up and refit, it's the threads that tend to go through rust, rather than the balljoints.  :y

The mechanic has tried heating but no joy.  Can you suggest anywhere for new/used or is it just a question of searching?

I have 2 bought new a few years ago for just this eventuality, and No, I don't carry them in the car, 'just in case.' ::)

Get them red hot, crack lock nuts off,  then undo rods with a back and forth movement.

Once removed, and heated as above, it becomes easier.  :y

Will go and do some searching on non UK sites tonight and will pass on comments regarding trying to loosen, thanks everyone much appreciated?  I am not prepared to give up on my car as it has been so good and wear and tear happens to us all at some point!

I had to replace mine where they had seized, and the heat+adjustment with it on the car had deformed one of them.  I think I paid about £80 each, from a dealer.

Not a bad price, given their projected lifespan.
