Just changing coolant and wondering how many times I have to flush to get everything out?

Set heater temp to Hi on both sides, and you should get pretty much all of it out in one hit :y

OK, thanks, I'll do it twice. Anybody know where to find those NORMA clamps for heater metal pipes to make that part flush easier?

Hi Andy B, yes I'll do it twice so I am in 75% level at least. Those NORMA clamps would be nice to find for effective heater matrix flush.

they're no better for cooling systems than a much cheaper and compact ordinary worm-drive hose clamp. Jubilee were the first, and are readily available. A 25-35mm hose clamp tightened to 5.1Nm(a tweak with a screwdriver) is rated to 102psi, which is much more than the14psi in a cooling system. Most of the 'problems' with Jubilee clips are due to operator error: too tight, or using too big a clamp.

I reckon about half comes out when draining through the radiator tap.

Jubilees are never recommended. Ever. They cause failures, and are themselves unreliable. Thats why nobody uses them.

I've never had a problem. I fitted them to the thermostat on my Smart as it was near impossible to re-fit the original spring clips ..... never leaked or broke anything. But as Nick suggests, they were the correct size & not over tightened. (and actual Jubilee clips .. not cheap versions)

I have a wide range of sizes of stainless Jubilee clips that were 'requisitioned' from a previous employment  ::) and use an appropriate sized Jubilee  :-*

Thieving bastid ;D.  Is this why I can't buy Beanz anywhere?  I had to buy Branston crap at the weekend.  Though TBH, I suspect they will get donated to the local food bank, because they're bloody 'orrible.

Thanks for this interesting discussion, after several flushes with tap water I could add 4.5 litres 100% coolant which is 50% of 9 litres. Should be ok now.

During the almost 16 years with the Omega, I was forced to change the 12 seals in the engine block 3 times. Now I use only demineralized water, mixed with the radiator additive, in the proportion recommended in the vehicle manual. In the additive packaging, it mentions durability of 4 years of use, however, I intend to change the solution every 2 years. I believe that I will not have any more problems with the new aluminum seals, made to measure.  :y
