Programming Remote.
« on: 11 January 2007, 23:32:33 »

  Hi all,
Can anyone inform me how to Programme the door remote(not key type), i've tried doing it as it states in the book by switching on the ignition and then pressing the open or shut buttons on the Fob, but nothing happens.

This is a spare one i bought off of eBay. The little LED lights up on the Fob when you press the buttons but won't lock or unlock the doors :(.

I did get one with the car and this works fine :y.

   Any help appreciated.

     Thanks,
               Pete :).

Tech2 (or good scantool) plus car pass required.

The keys use a rolling code system to avoid scanners detecting them and opening the doors....the trick of placing the key in the lock and pressing the remote button only re-syncs an already programmed key.

To add a new key you need to access the Alarm/Central locking controller via a good scantool or Tech2 and programme the new remote algorithm to the unit. The car pass is required as this has the PIN number to allow the scantool/tech2 to access the alarm/central locking controller.

I would suspect a bad contact in the key fob around the battery holder....

 Thanks for that Mark :y.

I've just read The Boys Info on Tech 2 uses and he states the below and my Omega is a 96 3.0L Elite :(.

Please note that Tech2 does cars from 1997 onwards, although it can deal with most pre-97 functions on the Omega except the IR remote locking and immobiliser.
Please ensure you have a good battery and its fully charged - your ignition will need to be on for extended periods!

Cheers,
          Pete.

If its radio remote, chances are tech2 can do it. If IR, needs tech1 (or other intelligent scantools)

 Hi TheBoy,
It's a 2 button Fob for opening and closing doors and setting the alarm.

Are you saying they used Radio Waves or Infra Red on these Fobs and if so how do i find out which one i'm using :question.

 Thanks,
           Pete :).

BTW, for RF, the remote has to be same make as ATWS ECU (Bosch or Megamos on Omega, usually Megamos)

Hi,
Am I right in thinking the following
The fob needs to be reprogrammed for you car (By Vauxhall with the KEYPASS) BEFORE you can sync.
If you look in your Vauxhall folder you should find the Keypass (credit card size)check the manuals as some kind soul might have jotted them down
this will contain the key code i.e H1234
and the immobiliser code i.e. 1234
and your Radio Code i.e 1234
armed with this info you should be able to go to your local Vauxhall dealers get the fob programmed, and I am sure they will help you sync it up  ;)

Yes, you are correct.
However, obviously you never keep carpass in car, so it gets lost when owners change, hence needing to buy new pass.

ECU is in driver kick panel.

It is written on back of old fob as well, often lettering has faded, but can usually still make it out.  Is yours a seperate fob, or one integrated into key?
