Out of all Omega's, the 2.5 V6 manual is the best mix of performance and economy ... but the bigger engines are still not bad

My 3.0 Auto project/shed did 34mpg coming back from Kent, and that's a dog !

According to the trip computer, I've had 22.8mpg out of my 2.6 manual. But I have a heavy right foot, and I'm addicted to the sound of the V6...

I've had 30-plus on a motorway run, steady 60-70mph, and it got me back from Brum (about 200 miles away) on £25's worth of juice...

i've got a 98 2.5 auto estate which i run down to london every week to work and i get 32mpg on the way down and 35 on the return journey ,only being heavy footed when overtaking.
i also have a w reg bmw tourer 318i 1.9 and driving it exactly the same way there is no difference in the consumption .

Worst 11 head wind towing hilly.

Best 27 on a 30 mile run through the new forest

My commute is a thrash, don't do many long runs without towing

Most holidays tend to end up with lots of short trips and narrow slow lanes

When I first got my auto 3.0 MV6 just over a year ago I was getting somewhere between 27-28mpg - not too bad I thought.  But over that time it's dropped and dropped until now my average is little better than 23mpg.  And at £1/litre that doesn't take me far...  :(

So what's changed?  Well, new tyres all round, and a full geometry (thanks Tony!) means that I have more confidence that it'll actually go where I point it, so I admit that the right foot get used a little harder...  And my journey to work has changed from MK roundabouts to a90, er 70mph dash on the A43.  But even if I try really hard to drive "softly" - I can't seem to achieve the figures I once did...   :-/

Bah, it's not the outright speed, its the laziness, and the sound, that made me get a sixer...
