ar25 upgrade to ar35
« on: 05 December 2011, 22:00:46 »

most of this topic is covered in the various guides, so this one is just to add a bit more info and tie together the various elements.

the ar25 is fitted to the 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 & 2.6 Petrol engines, 2.2 and 2.5 Diesel engines which can handle "250.. of torque.

the ar35 is fitted to 3.0 & 3.2 Petrol engines and can handle "350..of torque.

so if your ar25 has curled up and died, the ar35 is a worthy replacement.

the main difference is the bell housing, the torque converter, the linkage between the gearstick and the selector and the exhaust bracket support.

pictured is the v6 bellhousing and the torque converter which are not required.

the 2.5td has the starter in a different location and the torque converter only has three bolts to the (flywheel/ring gear).

picture to be updated

the seven bolt holes around the outside connect the bell housing and the inner five connect the bell housing to the oil pump drive.
the inner bolts according to "sassanach" only require slacking slightly not removing fully at this point.

see the link below.

the chances are that while doing the bell housing swap, you will probably find it worth while to fit the modified brass thrust washer from Jpat (see sticky in parts for sale)

pic to be added of scored oil pump face and plate housing
the pic above is scoring to epicylclic gear face, you might have to pick the best out of the two transmission units you have.

this just lifts out noting its position
