Hi all, ABS is celerbrating the Omega B as the feature car this year at Billing. We would like to have as many Migs as possable in the centre of the field as possable on the sunday. We are extending the invite to all OFFers to join us. If camping, you can join us on our field. Anyone who is interested, please PM me and I will send out one of the windscreen pass stickers to enable you to get the discount rate for attending. We also will have the hog roast again at the subsadised rates on the sunday lunch time.
Look forward to meeting some of you who I have never met before

Due to some misinformation given to us at ABS, here is the correct pricing for the event
Camping, £15 per night upto 4 people
Day ticket £10 per car upto 4 people
Book by July 1st for these rates
Field we are on is Shellduck 3
If I can get a site map, I will endevour to post it up here some how
Above prices are for pre book only. Turn up on the gate it will be. A fiver more

Had a whiff of the gas cannister when trying out the cooker , that stuff stinks :o Got 4 lots of gas in case someone with an omega estate brings half a cow ;D

Personally I would just aim for the ABS field (Shelduck 4) and see one of the ABS guys for guidance on where to pitch within their area (as they use the centre of the area for showing the cars). Unless you have a hook-up, Billing is notoriously hap-hazard about grass pitches. The grass pitches aren't even marked out, so in the open area it really is a first come first serve basis. The ticket gets you in the gate, they won't have a clue where you go from there, you are booking a space, not a particular space, just a space, contrary to what they may tell you. If you had booked a certain area and a family of ten tents turned up before you, there would be nothing that you could do about it. Tents are everywhere, along the side of the river (sometimes in the river ;D), forming communal circles etc. as you will see when you arrive. :y
I would go with Keith B's suggestion and just aim for the ABS area in Shelduck 4. At least you will be within a private area and all together. It's normally roped off, leaving a drive in/drive out gap for access. Anyone with a caravan has to make the tea though. ;)

I'm gutted that I've just sold my caravan, as I would have spent the weekend there as per previous years. I'll have to visit as a day visitor........unless I break the dome tent out. :)

I got told the field was Sheldrake 3 by one of the VBOA commtee members . Sorry for all the confusion, especialy as we have invited yourselves along as our guests this year. Camping statrs off along the edge of the field where the stream is, then along the far back edge.

The gate staff give you a map of the park when you enter, they do not guide you to a pitch. :y
The only thing that concerns them is that:
1. You have paid to camp.
2. You display a pass on your car/tent to show that you have paid.
Any random camper (not associated with a club) just turning up with no booking would pay his money at the gate and then just tour the site looking for a decent place to pitch their tent. Clearly they shouldn't go in designated areas.
Whereas you guys, as guests of ABS, will be checking in at the gate, following the route shown to the ABS area, introducing yourself to the ABS team as a matter of politeness so they know who you are, and pitching your tent. It really is that simple. :y

From the luxury of a modern caravan to a twenty year old dome tent, oh the shame of it. ;D I still have all the camping gear from my big tent days, I just haven't got a big tent anymore. A Freeman Kielder is lurking in the loft somewhere, not ideal but with an air bed and sleeping bag it would allow me to have a beer. :y
I have a little stove and kettle so that's the morning cuppa sorted. :y If I pitch by the stream I could use a funnel and a hose on a rod rest as a night-time urinal. :y ;D (only joking).
I've still got my 3 way fridge as well so even the beer would be cold. :y

My mistake , its 23 miles and 39 minutes according to route planner .. mite have to leave a wee bit earlier or cooking breakfast will be too late :-\ You'l be fine hawke , just take it easy and leave early to miss the traffic jams :y

I'll be aiming to arrive mid morning on Sunday. :y Working Saturday so can't stay over this year.
For those camping, make sure you use airbeds and not camp beds. There's a very good reason for this .............. if there's a downpour in the night, they float. ;D ;D

I am planning on nipping up on Sunday morning for the day, but the car is not at its best, has a wee paint scratch on the passenger side bumper, renew my membership while there, see u Sunday as long as not flooded out.

Its been a great weekend and nice to meet a few members to put faces to names , it rained quite heavy at night and the £10 tent stayed dry :D Splashed out today and bought 2 top hats from the abs shop ;D
Good show of Omega's in the parade ring , didnt realise we had to make a speech :-[
As for camping it was ok but i would prefer a tin tent next time , still enjoyable though :y :y

Nice to see some of you again. A shame that I had to rush off before doing the rounds. On the whole, Billing numbers definitely seem to be dropping year on year, which is a shame. Nice to see a few Omegas there this year though, top banana!

We have 105 members registered with LC,s or LO,s in the club but some are in foreign climes. New thread for Billing will start next may!!!

Now, pray tell, why did you write that? Every time the club organises a big meet, my car decides to have a nervose breakdown in an attempt to avoid attending. It's now got 365 days to plan devious ways to defeat me. Much better (for me) if you announce such things with less than a week to go. :-\

Many thanks for organising it and inviting OOF ... I know I'm an ABS member as well, but I probably would not have gone without the OOF involvement, as Mrs E always likes to know someone. :)
Excellent time, great hospitality from ABS, excellent company from OOF and others. Mrs E enjoyed it so much she already wants to back next year :y :y

o.m.g. the maroon senator brings back memories of the white old bill one that i had 16 years ago...mine was a straight 6 and went like a rocket,just about the only car i have ever regretted selling :'(

amazing pictures...the cars look fantastic...think mine would have looked rather old and used next to these beauties....thinking a lot of tlc and a little work for next year....
There was one that needed a bit of work shall we say but at the end of the day its all about having a good time ;) Would like to have another Carlton after seeing one or two at the show , its amazing how many old vauxhalls are still in existence and a lot in mint condition :o
