Yesterday, had to have words with chap opposite, as one of his mates always parks outside his house, no matter what. For the 2nd time in 2 weeks my battlebus was parked outside mine, so when he parked, it completely blocked our narrow road.

What goes through the mind of these people?
Nothing
unfortunately too many people don't care as long as they can do what they want
they don't consider what effect their actions have on others or how much they inconvenience others

blocking the road can have serious implications if something goes wrong

what if a fire engine, ambulance  needed access  :(

or bomb disposal crew  ;D

I have an retired one of those in the family, so I know exactly what would have happened. It would have made a bit of a mess of his car.  ;D

Had it MOT'd.

It failed on a blown rear number plate bulb and blown front sidelight.

The nice MOT tester changed both bulbs FOC and gave me the MOT certificate  :y

About half an ounce of copper jacketed lead when you run the place, right? ;)

Updated the Sat Nav in the Merc..... Without any of that unpleasantness from using dealers, codes, or cash! ;D ;D ;D

...and how did you do that, may I ask?

With Comand 4.5 / 4.7 (not looked for other versions) there is a trick where you can do the map update an unusual way...
Basically get the map you already have on usb....but remove most the files, and use this to start an update....it doesnt need a code as its the same version you have.
It tells you it cannot find the media and to supply it, you give it the new files, it still compains, you pull that stick out and put it in again, and off it goes, Happilly updating!   Let me know if you need more info ;)

Ah, mines got a Becker Map Pilot :(

There are ways for that too if you don’t mind some playing
Don't do it, Barry.  :o

Why not?
Ok, then, do it. ;D

Tend to use HERE maps off my phone,  which is better than the Becker system, so if it improves it, all well and good.

If it breaks it, Ah well.

I see. Bit of a bummer when a built in sat nav in a Mercedes is no good.

Well, Merc are well known for randomly selecting stuff from supplier catalogues...

Replaced a coolant hose which dripped slightly on Mrs Builder's astra
( one that attaches to the heater matrix inside the engine bay ,common on astra H )
while I had the spanners out I did the timing belt kit and waterpump ,flushed and filled with fresh OAT antifreeze  :)
then put the battery back in and noticed another hose that had rubbed and needs fettling before it leaks  :(
easy to get at , so I will chop out the section, insert a copper pipe and a pair of hose clips ,
Job for tomorrow ,CBA tonight now I've eaten too much food  :D

To be fair, it hasn't been updated since 2013.

To be fair, it hasn't been updated since 2013.
And the map will be 12-24 months out of date at that point as well...   ...though in reality, not many roads have been completed in that time frame, aside from new housing estates etc.

So whats wrong with it, just roads are out of date, or something else (that an update wont fix)?  I always maintain that any factory fitted one is leagues ahead of any portable unit.  Even the NCDC in Omegas is a very, very good unit compared to even modern portable units, apart from even the newest maps are now 10yrs our of date (and millennials will get hung up on lack of postcodes). NCDC isn't the easiest to use, mind, beyond the basic "take me to this address"

The Black Pussy came with a 2010 map, which I have upgrade to 2017 since. Apart from the extended Bedford bypass, I've not really noticed any road differences between the maps.

I would concede, my experience of Three (coverage wise) was pretty good when I stayed near Scarborogh, and visit the moors etc.  I think the rural parts there should be reasonably easy to provide good coverage due to landscape and limited people using it.

(My experience of Three's helldesk, and the local Three shop in Scarborough were less impressive ;D)
