Pricing Omega bits
« on: 03 April 2019, 13:44:03 »

Over the years, I have acquired various random items, along with some more useful parts.

Also have no end of crap parts... Screws etc will go into a tub, the rest to the tip.

Question being how do you price NLS parts? Mostly used but good condition/serviceable items such as vented fitting kits for rear pads...

Agreed, as you say, used, but NLS parts. I think all you have to do is look at such as ABS / GM6 Spares who may have plenty of NOS stuff, but also low mileage, now totally unobtainable parts.

As with most things that arent Escort Mk 1 / Mini / E-Type / Minor / MGB etc common stuff which have huge followings and massive remanufactured spares industry support, Omega et al will fall into the ...

"christ that's a rare part! They're unobtainable, wow"
"Well, I'm asking a quid"
[sucks teeth] "weeell, Ive already got a couple in me shed. Ta mate. Bye"... category.

Until you chuck it, then 2 minutes later every millionaire in the land is offering you their right arm and pertest daughter for one.

I'd ask if you have anything PFL X25XE/X30XE but I'll probably already have one in my shed...  :-\

Bundle them up into appropriate kits - thermostat housing/tube/gaskets/bolts(for those incapable of adding washers), rear pads/shoes/discs/fitting kit/cable, etc. If new, advertise them at half the price if they were available.

Expect a load of timewasters who only want one bit, and expect it posted for nothing. All or nothing is the approach to take.

Take any stuff that doesn't sell after a couple of tries straight to the tip. Or you'll end up with a load of festering crap that takes up room that would be better used for stuff you're actually going to use. This is particularly important if you're paying for the space.

sticking the P/N into GPS or autovaux often gives a good indication of what the 'going rate' is for said part/s. As said, then undercut and go from there.
