Having now seen your picture... Ouch.  :o

You just need to think up a more creative reason for it... ;)

Fitted new SCV to the Astra.... attempt two was more successful than attempt one!, New fuel filter and air filter left to acquire and do and the rear brake caliper needs a little attention but that is a job for another day.

Now have the front and rear shocks, front springs and wishbones for the refreshing of the daily, just got to hack the front bushes out so the poly's can go in then the car can go to Serek's while i'm on holiday to have it all fitted along with another couple of bits sorting and an MOT (Hopefully)!

Tried to drive it to a car dealer to look at a new car .. failed to find said car dealer because apparently:

a) The address listed on Autotrader is their house, which is not where their 'yard' is
b) Their yard is either very well camouflaged or just plain hiding
c) They had the telephone manner of a cabbage

Is there some mould that 50% of used car dealers come out of that makes them terribly ill suited to their job, and have the social skills of a wet haddock?! ;D (The other 50% being slimy "salesman", and then there's the few % of ones who actually seem honest - yes, I know, that's more than 100%.. sue me)

No, your analysis works where "few" == 0, which is my experience of the real world.  :y

;D ;D Well, I added that bit because I thought about Josh..  :)

Must remember to avoid car "dealers" based in Bedford in future, though.

Today, I've been playing a lot with my floppy knob, and now its a lot stiffer.

:o  :-X
Well done
does it slide in better now  :-\

you still need to think about lubrication  ;D

and if you get TC oil at £25 a tub ,no excuse not too  ;D
It (was) now fine, every gear selectable, but the gearstick never returned in neutral to between 3/4th.  I've now got plenty of plusgas onto the pivot point at gearbox end (and now works fine), and now need to add light oil to it (initially - then try to get more manly oil there).  Probably a long, shaped stick to run oil down.  Or rattle something off the printer, but that means designing something.

I just squirt white grease on all the links .the cheap cans I get have a red straw ,like WD40, or rob the nozzle and straw off a WD40 can and put it on white grease can

Cant get remotely near it, the straw wound have to be at least 18" long.

I want to get some light oil in that area first, let it soak in a bit :)

TBH I've not looked at the Zafira linkages ,I did replace the reverse switch via the N/S wheel arch.
I have used the insulation stripped off copper cable as flexable extension for the straw before now (and you can daisy-chain several)
I have to look at the Zafira tomorrow ,reported spanner light on briefly under hard load,(uphill 70mph in 5th  ::))
I will look at the gear linkages then
