Forgive the stupid question (pleeeease), but why is the Bose system so revered?
Ron.
Pretty much all Bose OEM Car Audio stuff was designed to be All or Nothing due to the strange Audio Levels they use, making it pretty much incomparable with any other Off the Shelf replacement ICE systems, the 2 Ohm speaker thing, well thats just another way of squeezing more Power from the Amp without investing in High Power Inverter stages, bearing in mind we are talking a 12v Source here.
Bose have always been a bit weird with there stuff which stems back to the 50's and 60's when they were assigned specialist work by the US Government, there main beliefs back then is that there is no such thing as a Flat Response Speaker, so why bother making a Flat Response Amp, up until recently and except for the later PA Stuff, all there Amps were frequency Boosted to suit thier crappy Speaker Response, by mainly increasing the Lower and High Spectrum (Base and Treble boosted) so as to match the Speaker design and get a half decent noise out of it. Again making there HiFi component totally incomparable with any other stuff.
Having said all that, they can come up with some decent and clean sounding equipment and systems, a few years back I bought a pair of there Noise Cancelling Headphones and they really do sound the business, they only other pair of Cans that compare are my old set of Sennheiser C1 Reference Headphones which dont get taken outside of the House.
