General Discussion Area / IT help, please.
« on: 02 November 2019, 19:55:54 »
I have a folder for my business letters, which are written as Word documents with JPG extensions. Suddenly the extensions have all changed to DOCX ones - without my permission!
I cannot view them without using FileViewer3, which is tedious.
Is there any way to recover this situation, i.e. returning them to Word files?
Any help gratefully received.  :-*

General Discussion Area / OCR software that actually works?
« on: 23 October 2019, 23:44:11 »
I've tried several, but none seems to be able to handle forms that have areas to fill in and/or edit. My son has a claim form to complete and wants to make it look neat rather than just write in the boxes. Is there a programme, preferably free (think of my pension!) which will do the job effectively?

General Discussion Area / Phew!
« on: 19 September 2019, 05:37:05 »
Just a quick update, gents, on my neck scan results: all clear, nothing serious to worry about and definitely no cancer = happy bunny!
Many thanks for your support and encouragement: only my kidney and diabetes reviews to go.....

General Discussion Area / Health updates.
« on: 15 September 2019, 01:32:00 »
Hi All.

As mentioned elsewhere, my car passed its MOT last week, no advisories, just a clear pass and a compliment from the tester on its condition for its age!
I had an appointment with the diabetes consultant last Friday and he wants me to go on to insulin. Obviously I'm not keen, but I want to live, so I'll have to accept it. He did say that so long as I keep my blood sugar level under control. I won't have to give up driving - phew!
I have another appointment this coming Wednesdaay to get the results of my neck scan regarding suspected cancer: fingers crossed.
Also, Wednesday week I have an appointment with my kidney specialist - the one who gave me two years to live!

General Discussion Area / Excel gone bozwonk!
« on: 31 July 2019, 10:30:13 »
I need to monitor and record my blood pressure daily and use Excel to do so, but as of yesterday I am unable to enter new data in the cells: no response at all!
I tried refreshing and even making a new spreadsheet, but the son of a bachelor stubbornly refuses to co-operate. Any ideas gents?

Omega General Help / Well done, Autoglass!
« on: 27 May 2019, 16:21:17 »
Despite my trepidation about having Autoglass replace my cracked windscreen, especially after reading the comments in a similar thread earlier, they arrived on time today with a 2-man crew and new rubbers.
Unfortunately, the rubbers were pattern and didn't fit very well, so they re-used my originals, which thankfully were in good condition.
They did an excellent, thoroughly professional job,  even removing the rust revealed under the bottom trim - and primed it too!  :y :y :y 8) :)

They ain't ALL bad.....

General Discussion Area / Titan TTL488GDO petrol strimmer
« on: 19 May 2019, 23:49:14 »
I have been given the above strimmer as a non-worker and as yet haven't investigted it, due to lack of strip-down instructions.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this machine, because it also has a hedge trimmer/weed and shrub trimmer attachment which would be ideal for cutting back the forest on my grandparents' graves (long story there...)

General Discussion Area / Retail question - Lizzie?
« on: 29 March 2019, 18:48:30 »
It's an Own Brand question, basically, but a specific example caught my attention today when buying vinegar:-
Sarson's 19.4p/litre Morrisson's 7.7p/litre

That's a big difference, so how come and how do supermarkets gain?

Omega General Help / My neighbour's wheel nuts
« on: 20 October 2018, 12:32:47 »
Sorry to make another post regarding locking wheel nuts, but my neighbour has got a puncture in one of his tyres and cannot find the Key to unlock the security wheel nut - his 2-year-old may be responsible!
Any suggestions as to how to undo the thing without major destruction, please?

Ron.

P.S. I want to help, because his wife is drop-dead gorgeous........
