All I will say is, if you want shelf life for fresh produce, don't buy from the Germans.

Our local Morrisons seems to have the best meat, fish and veg .. but the poorest selection and highest price for a regular weekly shop; Tesco has the best price, and reasonable quality meat, but the fish isn't a patch on Morrisons.

Wasn't it Tesco that started out with the slogan/mantra "Pile it high sell it cheap"?

Or Ratners? :)

I go to different manufacturer all over the country, and you would be surprised who makes own brand stuff,, and how many make stuff for all of the supermarkets. Same product different supermarkets.

All I will say is, if you want shelf life for fresh produce, don't buy from the Germans.

That is the only way many manufacturers can survive, keeping their 24/7 production lines going and maintaining their sales / profits. ;)

Buy all our beans from either Lidl or Aldi seem fine to us, even their tomato soup is good can't tell the difference between theirs & Heinz.

It's why I disagree with a lot of OOF theory about  branded goods for common items like oil, filters, plugs etc being better quality than the same supplier's own label.
I can assure you that often at the point of supply to an automotive manufacturer, the same manufacturer is unable to supply the same part other channels.  The car manufacturers do this for a number of reasons, beyond protecting their own supply lines, and there own markups.  Discount Mercedes in this bit, because they don't design stuff any more, just bodge in whatever parts are available from the various catalogues.

That's why, as we've proven time and time again on our single model site, some parts ideally do need changing with OE parts.

For those parts where it doesn't matter, we all buy on price/convenience, which may or may not be GM.

But we know you have no taste.

I love my beans.  But I struggle to eat supermarket attempts, including the budget supermarkets, which I'd put on par with Tesco Value beans.

Might cost me 41p a tin, but I'll stick with Beanz :)

I presume Andy Beanz can have as many 'free tins' as he likes as a perk of the job.

Mum used to work for a very well known (under one of its tradenames) food supplier, which also supplied the higher end food markets like M&S and Waitrose.

I was quite happy that their supermarket customers were fussy, as it meant we had loads of freebies :).

I do know that the recipes often varied between the well known brand and the supermarket variants, at who's request I don't know. But that was many years ago.

Well, yes, it was. But that's not actually what he said...

...but our media will never accurately quote
