someone went to the trouble of building them into the wall ...
it's not dry stone , stone is mortared together,so a modern wall .(so i can't think of a historical need for voids)
trellis panels are retro fitted  ::)
so , maybe for tea-light candles or other light source  :-\
spy hole to see if your car has not been nicked
about 6 foot apart  :-\ could you park your car headlamps level to provide lighting for the patio party  ;D
OK I don't know  ;D

the wall only looks about 9-12 inches thick ,so i doubt (and can not see) a void sideways of the clay pipe  :-\
bit low down and urban for nesting holes  :-\

poor attempt at an architectural feature   :P

modern arrow slots

covert drug deal serving hatch

yet more poor forward planning by severn trent water

vent for BBQ chimney

Maybe the builder put them in so people would wonder why  ;D

Severn Trent? Nay, lad, it's proper Yorkshire water up here. Anyhow, I'm gonna block them up with paper towels or the like tomorrow, then see if a local runs up and says, 'Thee can't do that, lad, because...................' :)
