General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?

Once I had ascertained that the front tyre on the C1 would hold air when the rim was straightened, I felt luck I was having a lucky day.
So, I pulled the whole dashboard out of it and then removed the steering column.
Now need to get another steering column / PAS motor and hopefully put everything back where it came from - which will be the hard part.  ::)
It could be on ebay as spears or rapiers on the next week or two.  ;D

Had a bit of luck with this one. Had a look in daylight and the steel rim was bent, allowing the tyre to deflate.
I hammered it straight again with a lump hammer, inflated the tyre and it seems to be holding air ok.  :)

Driving out of the village tonight in the C1, avoiding the worst of the potholes, most of which have traffic cones sat in them to help with this.
Suddenly realised that the cone had gone missing from the last one, just too late and hit it so hard it burst the n/s/f tyre, which was brand new a month ago.
The state of the roads are a national disgrace, but the powers that be couldnt give a toss.  >:(
Will need to check in the morning if anything else is bent / broken.   ::)

To stop short of bringing down the regime now would be beyond stupid.
Keep hammering the regime until the people come back out on the streets and take over the country again.
Then rename it Persia.  :)

New exhaust back box and coolant change on Sons Civic.
I will get some work done on my own cars one of these days.  ::)

I think the head of the Republican Guard and Defence Minister have also copped it.

Israel seem pretty confident they have cut the head of the snake - which is nice.  8)
Just hope this doesnt turn into another Iraq / Libya omnishambles.

It seems that very few people indeed have any clue whatsoever, how to drive these days.
Im making a concerted effort not to get mad about it any more, because its just so common I would be permanently in a state of anger on the roads.
Im also too old to get out and smack someone when they do something really dangerous, which happens on a daily basis.  ;D

Yep, fuel prices will probably go through the roof for a while.  ::)
If this can bring down the regime it will be a good thing for the world, but for some reason I doubt it will. :-\

Just fitted a set of dials / clocks / instruments (call them what you like) to Sons Civic .
Long story but after me messing around with them due to an airbag light that wouldnt go out, just before the MOT, they werent working properly anymore.
Disappointed to find that the replacement set have 30,000 more miles on than the original set, despite being advertised as having almost exactly the same mileage.  :(
Got to fit an exhaust rear box to it at the weekend.
Hoping to fix its various little issues before decent weather arrives so I cand start into the list of various *little issues on my own two cars.

* C1 needs a replacement steering column due to knackered PAS motor, which requires the removal of the  complete dash assembly before starting the actual swap over.
If it gets too much, or doesnt solve the problem, then it will be down the weighbridge, and replaced by a cheap milk float, aka Nissan Leaf.

There was a leasing deal on Leapmotor,s a few months ago, which was three year lease at £200pcm, with one month deposit, and 10,000 miles a year.
No doubt a loss leader just to  achieve market penetration, but if I had known at the time, i might have been tempted.
Would still have kept the Omega as a second car though, just as it is now.

As for your Merc - no point trying to make economic sense of it. Its your hobby that gives you pleasure and thats all there is to it.
Some people spend disposable income on golf bats, for reasons better known to themselves, people like us choose to spend it on cars.  :)

Dont need the solar panels (Ive seen the pic btw) as I have free charging.
Would rather there was a free to use petrol pump at work, but life isnt perfect.  :D
Might just fix the PAS on the roller skate and hope it (or me) lasts until I plan to retire on 28/10/29.  ::)

That Prius/Pious/Leaf thing only has a 24 KW battery.

It won't go very far with that. ::)

40 mile range would do just fine.  ;)
