If I'm connected to VPN, Inssider won't load.

If I load Inssider first, then connect to VPN it works.

Anyone else have the same problem?

A warning to all: Avoid using Aldi at the moment if you can.

I've just got back from a truly awful shopping trip there.

Having queued up, patiently and socially distancing, as I neared the entrance a shop worker clipped a carabena onto the belt loop of my jeans, my perplexed expression must have said it all as she explained that whilst people are distancing in the queue outside, they aren't distancing once inside the store.

So what some Donut has dreamt up is to rope 6 or so customers together with 2m of rope between each of us WTAF.

Well these are strange times and with the threat of a second wave of infection I thought I'd best not complain and just tow the line (so to speak).

I'm telling you now, what an absolutely idiotic idea this is. We've negotiated our way in to the store, some with trolleys and others trying to grab a basket before the berserk conga line drags them away.

I was near the middle of the rope picking up some veg, the woman at the front, who was trussed up like a kid in a harness was trying to drag the whole line to the apples and the bloke at the back trying to pull the other way to get his hands on last weeks courgettes which were now this weeks courgette offer.

It was like tug-of-war for the deranged.

It's embarrassing to say, but I lost it, started ranting and raving about the rope and how the hell are people meant to shop like this, I went to unclip the carabena which miraculously brought the attention of the staff who told me I'd be asked to leave the shop if I uncliped. "FFS we're not rock climbing, we're trying to buy cheese" are words which I'll carry with me to my grave.

Strangely this outburst had the effect of bringing our train together as a team.

We carried on now with lots of communication, people passing stuff along the line to other to fill their baskets. Now I know passing things to one another could spread the infection as much as person to person contact but I honestly think if we hadn't of done, I'd still be there now.

As we started along the aisle I generally refer to as "biscuits and creosote", it was clear from the start that all was not well in the adjacent aisle. As far as I could tell there had been 2 trains of people and a lady in the middle of one chain had ducked under the other to get her hands on a pop-art cat bed. The tangle had resulted in a multi-pedestran pile up in which the epicentre resembled the dirty Durga, it wasn't clear how long they'd been there but one old chap was trying to free himself by feverishly sawing at the rope with his house keys.

We navigated the remaining aisles without major trauma, other than having to rescue Doreen (2nd in line) after she fell in the chest freezer trying to reach the last beef Wellington. We were individually unclipped prior to the till, at which point any cameradery we'd had quickly evaporated as everyone scrambled for the first available till.

With the ordeal still impeding rational thought, it was a welcome and familiar sight to have the check out throw all my shopping on the floor in the normal 1000mph fashion. I really did not appreciate being strung along like that, but I hope you did. 😝

50 assorted roof & ridge tiles.

4 dustbins.

Correction - only 4 trampolines, 2 have disappeared.

Stock changing every five minutes.

General Discussion Area / Halifax v. Lloyds v. B'ham Midshires

As I mentioned in my previous post, my mother had a small amount of money in the B'ham Midshires and they sent me about a dozen forms to fill in.

After struggling to fill them in on and off for 2 weeks I phoned the Midshires and spoke to a more helpful person, I explained the problem and he said that I only needed to fill in one of the forms, I could then take it to either to a branch of Lloyds or the Halifax (part of their group) with my passport and driving license, they would authenticate it, and return the form with the authentification to the Midshires.

Off I trotted to the nearest LLoyds, after waiting in the queue I explained what I needed them to do, they helpfully said that I would need to make an appointment with the bereavement specialist, as no one  else could deal with it (all they had to do was photocopy the passport and driving license, and certify same). This waas last Monday, first appointment was in 2 weeks time. I made the appoinment.

Driving back home I passed a Halifax, so, with nothing to lose I popped in.

Spoke to a young lady who said, no problem, dealt with me on the spot - hopefully sorted.

My Mother didn't leave a will, but that was no problem as we tided up her affairs a few years ago.

However, on going through her effects we came across an two old insurance policies and an old building society account, none worth a lot of money.

Rang the Pru, they took a few details including the death certificate number, a few details from me and four days later I received two cheques.

Did the same with the building society which holds less money than the insurance and they've sent me 10 very complicated forms to fill in.

In addition they want my passport, driving licence and copies of household bills plus they are going to charge me a hefty admin. fee.

I should add, this particular building society closed all it's branches several years ago and went internet only.

Makes you wonder if our ebay admin. uses them ???

He'd got a 30 gift voucher and we used my trade card.

He tried charging his car with it, and after 18hrs it came up with fault code F03 (faulty charger).

We then tried it on his wifes car, after 6hrs, same thing, fault code F03.

Yesterday we took it back to Halfords, the gofor was behind the counter.

Us - We want to return this battery charger as it's faulty - came up with fault code F03.

Gofor - Did you charge it up first, it won't start your car unless it's been charged up.

Us - Er, it's a battery charger not a jump starter, it can't be charged up.

Gofor - You still have to charge them up.

Us - Is the manager about.

Manager comes ove.

Gofor - They want to return this, but they didn't charge it up first.

Us - It's a battery charger.

Manager opens box, takes out instructions and reads them from cover to cover.

Manager - No, it doesn't need to be charged up, what's a matter with it?

Us - Repeat we tried it on two cars, came up with fault code = faulty charger.

Manager - What do you want to do?

Us - Exchange it for another one.

Manager wanders off to the shelves, comes back and says none on the shelf, will look in the store.

After a while, the Gofor starts talking into his comms. device.

Gofor - What exactly was the fault again.

Us - We explain.

Gofor communicates this through his comms. device.

Gofor - What did you do to get the fault code up.

Us - We explain.

Gofo communicates this through his comms device.

Gofor - Manager says we haven't any in stock, what do you want to do?

Us - We'll have our money back.

Gofor communicates this through his comms device.

Gofor reluctantly refunds our money.
