Omega General Help / Re: I'm fed up!! Tappet noise!!

Thanks for all of the advice, I bought this to replace my 2.2sport which runs great but needs an exhaust, they are just not worth spending money on but what great cars when they are running well!

I'm not using it at the moment as the 2.2 is mot,d till June, I had hoped that the oil change and a good run around the block would shut it up but alas no, so it looks like I need to get the covers off and have a look  :'( hey ho!!

I need to summon up some enthusiasm

Hi guys

Quick update, I got around to doing the sump and strainer yesterday, lots of hung and some mayo in the sump but the strainer wasn't too bad, all cleaned up and back together,

I couldn't budge the oil filter though!!! I've had everything on it! I need to get it up some more so I can get more purchase on the spanners

As a result I've re oiled it and run it up, there is no noticeable difference so what next? Does it need to come to bits or does it need to be run for a while ?

Hi, I'm after a bit of advice please

I've just bought a really nice 2.6 v6, when I looked at it it had been standing and the tappets were noisy, my thoughts were that this was normal for hydraulics and they would quieten down with running, so I went away looked at one or two other cars and decided to plump for this one.

Anyway I picked it up yesterday and after about 10 miles the noise got louder!! I stopped, checked the oil, filthy but all there, and drove it home slowly, it sounds like a bag of spanners!! but all very top end so I assume the hydraulic lifters are knackered.

Before I start is there any advice, flushing wynns etc etc or should I just wade in and take it to bits?

Any comments (apart from scrap it) would be welcomed

Looks like i've started something here, I'm not sure I can be bothered to do it, anyone want a "w" reg MV6 for about 650, It's running "but not as we know it Jim" and sat on my drive having been recovered by the good ole AA

Hi, I'm new to the forum and really like these cars but they are testing my patience!! I bought and elite estate at new year and the engine blew so I sold it and bought a BMW!! Hated that so I have bought an MV6. It ran great for about a week then started to misfire when it was on tickover, I cleaned the idle valve as suggested without success. Now the misfire has developed, over the last day or so it has misfired from cold and then cleared (except tickover) but now it is clearly down on at least one cyl, I bought some new plugs today and fitted 5, I couldn't get the cap off the rear l/h bank, some of the others were full of oil, so the cam box gasket is duff!!  It' still on 5? and rough as hell, anyone got any ideas of where to go next or get the cap off the back plug!!

Omega General Help / Erratic tickover

Hi, guys, I'm new here, just bought an MV6 and the tickover is erratic at idle, it feels as though a plug is on it's way out, will it be that simple or should I look at other things as well?

I have a "W" plate MV6, with a misfire if you are interested, 650 V Clean taxed and MOT'd
