Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID problem.
« on: 11 March 2012, 17:58:31 »
When i bought my estate over five years ago, the headlamps were orangy yellow. They would give the big flash on turn on and then go through the normal dim to bright sequence but then dim off to orange one side and yellow the other. I changed the lamps to a set of 8.5k colour and since then, and espesially in the cold, one side but sometimes both, will not strike up so to speak. They will eventually with turning on and of rapidly.  Ballast prob or not good quality lamps?? I may take a week to answer any questions due to work commitments.  Thanks in advance,  keith B

The rear kept popping off on my estate from the sensor. I wound some ptfe tape round it (4 times so not to over do it) and it has stayed on ok for 8 months now.  Keith B

Any more news about the chinese or VW buying GM europe? I know Anglea merkle was talking to VW as the German government had put a lot of money in to keep GM going and didnt want the chinese to grab it.  Keith B

It costs me 35 a day in diesel to get to and from work. Having to travel from Essex to Bedfordshire as Essex is dead for work.  keith B

Do you suspect an oil cooler failure then?

Nissan have made a spelling mistake with the Juke. It should have been an "O" not the "U" in the name

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: Air con pipe wanted
« on: 04 March 2012, 16:14:24 »
That will probably be the other type as the condensor will be a four bolt fixing. I bought a four bolt fixing type pump not knowing  mine had a differant one on it. The pipe is fitted into it in a differant position. Thanks for thinking about it.  Keith B

   moderators please move
Wanted for 2.5 F/L diesel, the pipe that comes from the compessor and runs across the subframe to the near side some where. Mine has a hole after the compressor front blew off.
Please note; the compressor is differant on the F/L to the earlier cars, differant position and a three bolt fixing.  Thanks Keith B
I may take a week or so to answer as current working hours dont leave me any time during the week for looking on the forum

thanks all for the words of encouragement, I was a bit disheartened tbh when I got her, as there's more to do on it then there was on my 18yr old Astra Convertible that preceded it, but like you say, they are all little bits here and there, and they dont actually stop the car working, so its all stuff I can do as and when time and funds allow.

cheers all !!   :-*

Every Omega I have seen with that style wheel has needed them refurbed. Mine had the same wheels when I bought it but I changed them when the tyres wore out.  Keith B

Omega General Help / Re: Tramlining
« on: 31 December 2011, 15:53:22 »
My estate was tramlining, I fitted GM wishbones and after only a year the ball joints were totally shot. Just had the front struts changed for gas filled with new ball joints and drop links. A lot more confidence in the front now but it will still tramline on a lot of roads due to the amount of HGV traffic in this area even though you cant see their marks unless it has rained very heavily. keith B

There is a cracking bit of road down this way that the bikers like to use, so most road deaths will almost certainly be from that group. I know three bikers who used to regurly exceed 140mph on two or three areas of it
