I think a lot of people who "were there" "did that" were very reticent of talking about what they actually had done.Whether this was so as not to revive the memories of war or a modesty as to their part over and above others who took part in the same battles[some of whom will have died in the attempt]or a mixture of reasons I don't know, but your grandad sounds like he saw more than his fair share kingshott.Long may they all be remembered for the sacrifices[both physical and mental]they made for future generations :y

...has been found. The wreck of first Japanese battleship to be sunk in WWII has been located off the Solomon Islands.Much like H.M.S.Hood she was originally built as a battlecruiser and was later upgraded to battleship. The Hiei served in both world wars and was finally sunk in 1942 after damage sustained by both ship to ship actions and air attacks which finally led to her being cast adrift from a rescue attempt and left to her fate.

As DG says I'd take the precaution of changing the belt too.Tensioner pulley is only held by one bolt[15mm spanner/socket?]so I'd just change the pulley and not the whole tensioner, unless you know of some kind of fault with the tensioner.

Never used KF but did once go to one called Motosave[unsurprisingly long since defunct]for a tyre.manager type advised me that their "technician" had noted that the exhaust manifold had a blow and the nearside lower balljoint was worn to a dangerous state and would I like them to give me a quote to put it right.I told him I knew of the manifold problem-it was a 2L SD1 and they were known for this-and that it was a dealer only part, the lower balljoint was part of the bottom arm which had just been replaced less than half hour previously at which point he "suggested" that maybe the play was in the wheel bearing and not the balljoint and did I want them to quote me a price to replace that :o :o.Strangely I declined his kind offer ;D

Watched an old episode of Ironside[Raymond Burr as wheelchair bound police detective] in which he traded places with a character called Carlton Duffy in order to find  and trap a killer. The Duffy character was quite obviously Raymond Burr in a white haired wig and beard, however in the credits at the end of the programme it said that Clinton Duffy was played by himself. So was Raymond Burr really called Clinton Duffy or vice versa?Or who in fact was either of them?

Triumph[the cars not the bikes]had at one time the globe as a radiator badge,so maybe an even earlier version to sit on top of the radiator shell as opposed to the coloured ones that were fixed to the front of it?
