General Car Chat / Re: Roadside repairs

Going on standards these days it seems a lot of people barely know how to drive their cars let alone fix them :-X In some ways it's a bit of a balancing act given the labour rates charged by stealers in particular[although in fairness to them the "techies" don't earn anywhere near what some people believe]means it can be a close call-if not cheaper-to replace a part rather than pay the labour cost of taking something apart to fix it.

I could see such a party gaining support from the disaffected, whether or not they would become a prty to be reckoned with is another matter. But would they want to form a political party or would this then make them too "establishment"?

What an amazing find! It must have been at one and the same time a fascinating and emotional experience to read those letters as they came back from being translated.

Don't know of a commercial aircraft that will travel at that kind of speed anymore Tilbo. As you point out there is no real point in attempting this but then there was no real point in climbing Everest or breaking the sound barrier in an aircraft and a whole host of other things that people have done, but people do it for the challenge and to prove it can be done.

Omega General Help / Re: Are Omega estate cills galvanised?

Wouldn't have thought estate sills would be galvanised but the saloon ones not, wouldn't the sills be the same estate or saloon? You could try protecting the inner faces of your estate sills with some kind of cavity wax as I believe they tend to rot[like wheel arches]more from the inside out rather than the other way round.

That's just it though I cannot for the life of me see or feel any slots under there for the retainers to fit into hence my wondering if there was some kind of trim piece missing ??? Might try and see if Ambas' idea of zip ties will work.

Apparently after a successful-if rather slower than 1,000mph-run they then needed 25m more investment :o to take it forward

The attempt to take the land speed record to 1,000mph has been abandoned after the company failed to attract further investment and has gone into receivership :'( :'(

Always fancied the idea of a stretched Senator or an Omega hearse but neither would fit in the lock up and it might be a bit dodgy parking a hearse on our street where at 65yrs old I'm the youngster :o

There were reports some years ago that a letter-or some kind of paperwork-had come to light in Australia that pointed to Jack the ripper as being a woman. But as Lizzie states it's a crime that will never be solved with certainty.

Omega General Help / A bit missing?
« on: 06 December 2018, 19:02:25 »
Ever since I've had the Elite the under dash trim[the bit that has the footwell light in it]has had a habit of dropping down due to there being no clips to hold it at the glovebox end.Up until now I've just kept pushing it back up until it caught on something and held for a short while. Now having a bit of spare time on my hands I had a look at this to finally sort it but for the life of me I can't see where the clips would fasten to under the glovebox. All that seems to be there is a metal[at least I think it's metal]bar/rail running from the centre console area to the passenger end of the dash.Am I missing a part there and if so how does that hold onto the underside of the dash?If I'm not missing a part there where do the clips for the under dash trim hold on?
