Thanks guys for all your feedback :-* :-* :y :y

Take your point DG about red;  I will go for silver or black, as you suggest, probably the one from ebay suggested by Andy B :y :y

Also understand what you mean Andy W about doing a thorough job.  I have the time to do it, so will! :-* :-* :y

Thanks all again! 8) 8) :y

It wasn't me .....  ::) it was Webby  ;)

You'd be better buying Hammerite Smooth .... it'll be cheaper (& IMHO the same)

I can't see 10 mm wider being a problem

It's  strange but at times larger tyres can be cheaper than smaller tyres.

Standard fit tyres on the mighty Signum are an oddball 215mm. They are hard to source and about 30 a corner more expensive than the 225mm tyres I replaced them with.

I wasn't thinking cost .... you asked if they'd fit  ;) You just need to be aware of the rolling diameter being too far from original otherwise you'll upset the ABS etc

The 17" tyres for the 17" rims I bought for my Omega were cheaper than the original fitment 16" because they were more common  :y

but will 10mm make much difference to the amount of grip?

« on: 03 July 2020, 12:54:08 »
Furthermore, the anticipation of MOT date to get the extra month before expiry, is not 31 days, nor even 30 days, but a month less one day. So if your MOT expires on February 28th, you must submit car for test on January 29th or later.

as it's always been

.... the earliest date you can present your car for MOT is printed on the MOT

636 is just taking the piss. :-\

Agreed. MB only quoted 550(ish) for both pads & discs for the front of my ML .... which of course I declined.  :y
To be fair to MB, about 400 of that is parts ;)
But the discs are still on the car over 12 months later .... they no where near the end of their life. I just replaced the pads. 'You need new discs & pads Sir' seems to be a common cry from MB.

I used this...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SILVER-BRAKE-CALIPER-PAINT-METAL-STEEL-ENGINE-High-Temperature-125ml/162123114796

I did them few weeks back and still looking good. Tiny pot of paint but it lasts. I used heat gun between coats as I did fronts then rears.

how did you find the paint?  :-\

I used caliper paint from Halfords  I admit they;re not the cheapest of places. :-[ The finish was pretty good & lasted well.  :y

If you were closer you could've had the half tin I have left.  ;)

I just got quoted 636 for rear brake pads ( not pads and discs) from Jaguar.

 ....

Are you sure that wasn't a supply & fit price? Dealers (especially high end marques) tend to assume that the customer won't want to dirty their hands. Still stupidly expensive even if it is a fitted price
