Omega General Help / Re: Front hubs.
« on: 27 July 2020, 20:03:05 »
In all my years of Carlton and Omega ownership, I've never changed a front hub bearing,  :)

I had one replaced on my Omega .... I provided an OE bearing & someone else fitted it for me.

Don't ask Nige ....  ::)  ;)

New Brighton, is my favourite place to go on a wet Tuesday.   ;D it's like all the best and worst bits of Morecambe in a 200 yard parade of chip shops and amusement arcades.

The beach is nice on a dry day too.

Considering it's so close to me, it's a place I've never been to.  ???

Yep it's the twintop 2007 model 80 is a hell of a lot better than 160 that's for sure, would a locksmith be able to provide?
As said, acquire the correct key from online sources and find a suitable indie to program.

programme .....  :-X ::)
No, to configure or write is the americanised program.  On the TV, you watch a programme.

Same as your computer has an americanised disk, but anything else round and spinny is a disc.

Most IT shite has standardised on the (incorrect) American spellings.
;D

I used neither. Just sliced carefully through the glue with a Stanley knife, replaced the adjuster & reassembled cold ... never had a problem  :y

Thanks for all the replies. How difficult is it to replace? My car is a 2.6 V6 auto.

General Car Chat / Re: ECP - cheapy discs!
« on: 22 July 2020, 19:05:40 »
The last 'cheap' discs I bought were from Brakes International for my Senator. One was 'warped within 4000 miles so as there was so little mileage on the other replaced a single disc ..... I got another 3/4000 miles before I had the same problem. Brakes International didn't want to know .... 8d apparently fitted them wrong. I had Vauxhall fit a pair of OE discs .... sorted.
Ever since, I've bought OE. Cheaper & easier in the end.

As has been stated, it does not convert LHD lights to RHD or RHD to LHD.  The levers convert the beam to a flat pattern which would certainly fail a UK MOT,

The levers are there on all Xenon cars, and takes a few seconds to do - rubber cap off, flick the lever, rubber cap on. Done.

Not in my experience .... I set mine to "flat" for a french holiday and as it was raining at the ferry terminal (where I usually changed them) left them there on the way home, and then forgot about them !!!  Nothing said at all at the MOT, only noticed when winter came and it got dark much earlier so the lights were actually used in anger !!

What Entwood said as I've done the same .... the MOT test is just testing to ensure you're not blinding people.

General Car Chat / Re: Service due light cancellation
« on: 17 July 2020, 22:07:15 »
I have two Astra owners manual here, not dated, however first quoted is labelled TS 1612-B-08, second TS 1612-B-04.
I list below the functions in each manual.

Both depict the bulbs in the rear cluster. They describe bulb as follows:
with the single bulb to the left, numbered 5:
5 Fog tail bulb
Going around clockwise from 5,
1 Reversing light
2 Flasher, OR Turn Signal
3 Reversing light/brake light OR Tail light/brake light
4 Tail light OR reversing light
5 Fog tail light right hand side only. Bulb on the left can be used as a spare.

So it looks like bulb 3 should be 2 filament. Will check when the car is next here.

.

My last car ... Merc R Class .... was all CANbus &the stop/tail lamp was a single filament bulb, electrickery made it a dim tail light or bright stop light

Pre MOT I changed both rear trafficator bulbs, colour pale last year. I checked all lights, all seemed OK. Rear fog light was RH only. assumed normal. Do I need to reset the InSP message?

Blimey Terry .... how old is this car if it has trafficators?  ::) ::)
