Washed & polished the Range Rover in glorious sunshine back in the garage before the rain started..😁

Likewise, Weather is so patchy at the moment. One moment itís raining the next itís like a summers day then rain again  ;D

Took the CLS500 for an MOT. Was a bit nervous being the first time with this car. But it passed with flying colours with no advisories and even commented on how good everything is. They liked the V8 sound it makes an all  8) :y

Enjoying my CLS500  :y
May not quite be as cheap as some of them. But the early 5.0 CLS500 start around £3,000+  :-\

Edit: Looks more like around 5k

The F30 330d xDrive / 335d xDrive that i test drove where't uncomfortable at all imo  :-\ :y

Donít know much about them Merc 4x4s but those both appear to have the same M273 engine as in my CLS500 if so they do perform well, Just watch out on the early ones anything after 2008 should be fine  :y

Surprised you sold the E430, But given the opportunity for profit on a car owned many years Iíd find it hard to turn down as well :y

Good luck with the hunt for the replacement. Do like them C63 AMGs just watch out they can have expensive issues especially with the early 63 engines if you go down that road  :y

Lovely looking car.

Thanks Tilbo. I really want a CL500 as my weekend car, but cant bring myself to part with the old Omega. Its a lovely thing to drive.  :)
.

If I had a double garage at the time I would have never have let mine go, my Merc is great got more power than I'll ever need but there is just something about the Omega I love.

Know what you mean, I'll always love the Omega as you say there's just something about them. I'll try and keep my Omega as long as possible but with the amount of rust in various areas, the engine burning oil, transmission clonking into gears under hard acceleration etc..etc.. Can't complain it has done around 217k if i recall.... It probably wont last long standing now I have the CLS500. At least it will make a nice garden ornament.......

As good as the Mercedes CLS is it just lacks something the Omega has. Although I don't really feel anything for modern cars in general.. Only thing i look for now is performance and handling with reasonable comfort and creature comforts like heated/cooled seats etc.... New cars now they are like a smartphone on wheels these days. Fashionable to change yearly  ::)

Nice cars, It’s definitely turning into a Jaguar owners forum at this rate  :D ;D :y

Test drove a 2014 XF 3.0 Diesel S few months back. Nice looking and comfortable enough if not a tad on the firm side but the handling is good so can forgive it for that. Tech inside good. Not much to dislike about them. Apart from the price maybe. That car I saw was on 64 plate around 52,000 miles and he wanted £17k (dealer not private)  :o ... Personal preference after trying a F30 330d xDrive and a 335d xDrive one of them will be my next car after the V8 Benz in a few years. They are quite something else to drive. Unless the XF depreciates better. We shall see  ;D

Best of luck with your XE  :y

Interesting you say the XF-S was tad firm and prefer BMW? I find BMW M140i M235i ride totally unacceptable, is the M (not true M) that harder compared to standard?

Tested the 330d xDrive a few weeks after the XF give or take, Immediately felt more involved with the F30 3 series and was surprisingly a nice place to be as well (not as well equipped maybe). I was taken by surprise as i've not been a big fan at all of past BMW 3 series. It just felt right. like a glove... Comfort wise i found it better odly, Maybe because of the very supportive seats or pinpoint handling i couldn't say for certain from a 4 mile test drive. Much quicker than the XF as well especially in 335d xDrive guise. 0-62mph 4.8sec. XF-S Diesel is around 5.9 sec from memory? ...Quite an odd but satisfying feeling being in a fast diesel.

EDIT: It could be because they where xDrive models apparently they have a more forgiving ride.

I considered a few different Mercedes. CLK55/500 , SLK55, E55/500 etc... Also, Looked at a local 54 plate S500 few months back, Didn't get to drive it. But from what i saw I didn't like it all that much tbh. Was missing quite a few options as well. Couldn't see it handling all that well either. Then again depends what you want it for.

The 2008 w219 CLS500 i went for in the end was originally a ex-mercedes managers car where he changed car every 4 months so naturally had the top spec of whatever he got. Otherwise no doubt it would have been the usual poorly specified CLS model. Napa leather Massage + ventilated / heated / dynamic seats, inbuilt digital TV / DVD player, Keyless Go, Steering paddles etc.. Are some of the options on it that aren't usually ticked when new.

Loved the w211 E55 AMG i test drove awhile ago, Sadly it had a hard live and was a wreck even so it still went well. Those are one of the best engines Mercedes made around that time the M113 / m113k. But they are too hard to find in good condition for a reasonable price.

I'd recommend you just go and see / test a few different models. E class, CLS, S class etc.. See what suits you. But as DG said do your research on them before purchasing. Quite a few bad apples / ticking time bombs out there best avoided.. Specific years / engines etc...

Yeah watched it when it came out, Was very well made fair play. Enjoyed it  :y

Itís also done some good bringing the dangers of Nuclear if/when one goes wrong for whatever reason to the spotlight. Itís been mentioned quite a bit since the release of this series on the news, newspapers etc.. Also educated some people who where previously oblivious.

Snowdonia North Wales area was pretty badly affected with the fallout from Chernobyl as mentioned above for the farmers / lamb etc... Plus who knows what affects this has had on people in the area.
