I have a perfect Z22XE engine sitting on a pallet with only 80k on it , was supplied new by VX a few years ago, may be easier than changing the head

Funny you should say that. I remember some confirmed cases of Ford cars managing to "depart" the Dagenham, or was it Halewood, plant in the 1970's without being registered i.e. they had been nicked and officially never built!! ;D ;)

Rather like the Jonny Cash hit, one piece at a time, but in these cases it was the whole car!

I drink with a couple of old Ford lads, they have some good tales from the old days, if one of their own cars was going down the line they tended to get all the extras possible bolted to them, one of them managed to cobble together a 4 door RS2000 allegedly

You have to force it away from the door to get access to the mechanism, I break Omegas and have a drivers door card if needed

Only success I have had in this situation is window down, sacrifice door card and massively douse the mechanism in WD and work the mechanism manually with a long screwdriver, said lock is still working years later

General Car Chat / Main dealer/ shoddy work
« on: 18 November 2018, 09:58:12 »
The 2.2 I am breaking currently had a brand new engine fitted by a local main dealer which I imagine would have cost a small fortune, I removed the gearbox yesterday and was surprised to see it being attached with a variety of odd bolts, nuts and bolts not even of the right size and worst of all a couple of manky old exhaust studs had been cobbled into it , disgraceful
