In a strange and all consuming quest for originality I am seeking an original 2.5 PFL single exit back box either new or in super duper condition, I know Vaux stopped supplying the good clamshell ones and switched to Bosal crap but it's original I want so if any of you old duffers squirreled one away when they were going cheap or kept the old one when you put an Irmscher one on then I want to hear about it !!!

Autovaux say they have an OE one but no pic and they have a habit of selling pattern stuff as original so until they supply a pic I won't be buying.

Surely your wallet is lodged behind the counter at the local Jag dealership :D ;D
On the subject of moth I seem to get plagued with very small moths here just as I did last year.

You could buy an Audi, where they charge you for one of their staff to acquire all cash, cards and anything else that might be of value in your wallet. Including the wallet itself. This charge also include rubber gloves for when the bouncer ejects you from the showroom for looking poor....
I've often thought I'd like to win the lottery and wander into one of these showrooms in dirty jeans and a tee shirt. What fun.

Back in the 60's I had a mate who was a builder, he saved up, in cash, enough to buy a Ford Zepher.

He wandered into the Ford showroom in his builders gear, cash in a paper bag, and got ignored until he sat in one.

Similar thing in our local Merc dealer, shabby looking fella went in to look at the SLK roadster when it first came out, he was spoken down to by the staff who'd judged him to be beneath them, he made sure they knew about it when he bought one each for him and his wife from Merc Manchester  ;D

Hanging fire to see what the world is like mid September, may grab a cheap weeks all inclusive somewhere if it looks calm. I'm front line NHS but don't think we are exempt from quarantine anymore sadly but could really use a weeks break  :-\  The wife isn't keen but I'll happily send her a postcard  ;D

Coulthard and Webber were crucifying Hamilton for Verstappen going off then lauding him for getting past Le Clerc on the very same corner, bloody overpaid hypocrites  ::)

Are they still the go to for replacement exhaust sections?  I though I'd seen someone mention a drop in quality but may have imagined it  :-\ ;D

Omega General Help / Re: R25/R28 gearbox ratios
« on: 13 July 2021, 19:34:48 »
My 5 speed manual omega has the code R25/R28 on the gearbox, i can find the ratios for R25 and for R28, but not sure what it means when both codes are on the box..

Does anyone know what ratios this gearbox has?

As far as I have been able to find out over the years is possibly there was an R-25 gearbox in low power 2.0 early on in production but I've been breaking manual Omegas for years purely for the gearbox's and never seen one with just R25 on,  R25-28 boxes are near identical and have both numbers cast into them, possibly the dti has a different 5th ratio.   There was allegedly an R28 box that has the same internals but they were shot peened so a little stronger, again I've never seen one or spoke to anyone that has.

I'm guessing you may be doing some form of transplant ?

Langs are local to me  - so from what you have said you would recommend them for Omega geo set up then?

I had no complaints at the time, this was probably 10 yrs ago   :-\

I was surprised when I took my old 3.0 into Langs in Bolton, I hadn't counted on it needing wishbones so it took a while longer to get them delivered and fitted but it transformed the car
