The Bullet broke down, twice, on the way to work.

It just cut out, at idle. Started fine the first time, second time it wouldn't start until I'd had a rummage.

Now I think I've diagnosed it, any guesses?

TBE was thrown in for its MOT on Monday, without any prep, expecting a failure on a couple of things, but it passed. Advisos were for what I thought.

What d'ya reckon the 2 adviso's were for, just for a bit of fun.

General Discussion Area / Plumbing question
« on: 09 August 2015, 14:08:14 »
With the new washing machine being (presumably) cold fill only, is there a cap I can put over the hot tap/valve where the old hot hose would have gone to prevent diasaster if the valve/tap gets knocked or leaks?

I think its the standard 3/4" fitting...

General Discussion Area / Fix or replace?

Washing machine. Hotpoint WMA60.

Its 14yrs old, and bearings have gone again by the sound of it. Trouble is, it could be one of 2 sizes, so would mean stripping, ordering the bits, then reassembling, so probably out of action for a week (I think this was the reason last time I bought the entire drum assembly).

Or accept its probably done its time, and she can have a nice new shiny one.

I'm not really what you'd call arty.

I found this picture hanging in the villa, what do you see?

I see a man with low slung gonads, having a tug, whilst dreaming about a donkey

General Car Chat / Zafira rear wheel noise
« on: 02 August 2015, 09:43:52 »
Driving to airport it developed a squeal from OSR wheel.  Stopped at services, and wheel was quite warm, all others cold.

Noise was a bit like brake squeal.

Sticky caliper or wheel bearing?

General Car Chat / Zafiras
« on: 30 June 2015, 20:03:24 »
I keep seeing posts of people mentioning their Zafiras.  I struggle to see the appeal, despite (or maybe due to!) having one myself. I put them in the shitbox category.

But they are obviously popular...   ...or are they, hence the poll.

But do you like them?

Newent is on again this year, staying at Pereline campsite just outside of Newent.

We arrive on Friday 4th and leave Sunday morning/lunchtime on Sunday 6th September.

If booked through OOF, the rate is 20 per night per tent/caravan/motorhome, including hookup, a saving of 20% on the normal 25 rate.

For those that have never been before, we mostly pitch up in the same area so as to minimise any disruption to other guests, and congregate on Friday evening under one of the shelters we will erect. We either send someone out for a takeaway, or have a BBQ, or both. Actually, often both ;D.  Saturday may consist of the boys playing with cars, and the girls going into Gloucester shopping, or if there is no car stuff that needs doing, going out somewhere as a group. Obviously, anybody is free to do whatever they desire. Saturday evening is another gathering under the shelters, as per Friday night.  Often we do a quiz or play some kind of silly game as a bit of an ice breaker.

Look back over previous Newent photos to get a better understanding :y

Obviously, those who have been before, you know what to expect.

We have guaranteed 5 units at that the special price, with the option for another 5+ if I let the owner know by early July.  Deposits of 15 (non-refundable I'm afraid) need to be paid in to the OOF bank account ideally before the end of June. The account details are the same as last year, and those who are not sure, drop me a PM.

Dates are confirmed as the night of Fri 4th September and Sat 5th September.  Special OOF rate is 20 per pitch per night, including hook-up (so 40 for the usual Fri afternoon until Sunday lunchtime). This represents a 20% saving over the usual 25 nightly rate.

As Mrs TB is organising it this year, due to me having too many other distractions, so she'll post up something later on this thread.

...but mum has just emailed me, saying she tripped over a root, and fell face first in the muck heap.

I need to call her, just to double check she's OK, but I can't stop laughing at the moment  :-[

General Car Chat / Intelligence and Inevitability
« on: 06 June 2015, 19:57:48 »
I believe the definition of intelligence is the ability to learn from mistakes. So when you learnt a year ago that the dirt blaster removes the paint if closer that about 18", an intelligent person wouldn't do the same today.

After washing the car, just after putting the pressure washer away, the inevitable happened. A flock of albatross running heavy on chicken vindaloo used it for target practice.
