As regulars will know, the Battlebus has been somewhat challenged when it comes to power.  Well, with the help of that DTM fella, we had a little fettle with it on Tuesday evening, and think we've found the fault, or at least a big part of it - the intake manifold, like the 2.2DTi Omega, benefits from a bit of a clean occasionally.

MDTM, I believe, did take a couple of pics, so I'll see if he fancies posting them up.

Unfortunately, it wasn't playing ball on rebleeding afterwards, so had to leave it at a certain railway place, and get Mrs TB to come and get me.

Unfortunately, Mrs TB got about 20 miles, then came to a complete standstill, as the M1 was closed, and when she got off the motorways, the local roads were all at a standstill. So MDTM gave me a lift south, and Mrs TB creeped north.

MDTM then spend Thurs eve fitting a priming bulb, changing the leak-offs, and getting the car started.

Yesterday, Mrs TB dropped me off at MDTM's work, so he could take me back to Nottingham to collect the bus.

Performance? I need to run Tech2 over it, clearing out and resetting everything, but initial thoughts are its often still sluggish trying to accelerate medium/hard from lowish rpm (but responds much better with very light throttle, making cruising at 50mph much easier, as before I'd have to run through the gears).  However, whereas before it wouldn't rev beyond 3000rpm, it now pulls properly to 4k and beyond.

So, huge, huge thanks to Marks DTM Calib for everything.  Even if I did hear him mutter "I'm starting to bloody hate your car" ;D

DTM Taxi Services. Highly recommended.  Matters not that it's unsociable hours, and a miserable, grim, wet, windy night.

Massive thanks to Marks DTM Calib, a bit above and beyond, and massively appreciated :y

...I wonder how many people had their Omegas on the date the forum was born (8th July 2006), and still use now as a daily driver.

I'll kick off with my beloved, superior MFL MV6, aka The Silver Bullet.

For Pillock of the year, I would like to nominate:
TheBoy for buying some springs to replace perfectly good springs, and buying the outboard CV boot instead of the inner.

It must be an age thing :(

General Discussion Area / Advance notice, outage this weekend...
« on: 26 January 2017, 19:29:22 »
....assuming the shit turns up, it was ordered last week on a 3 day delivery, still not here  >:(

We need to swap out some non-redundant network gear, which will involve an outage of approx. 2hrs, and a series of outages of less than 2 mins each.

Its too cold to mess about with cars anyway, so hope the outages will be nothing more than a minor inconvenience.  If you need a guide for this weekend, I'd recommend printing it off :)

Why is it retards around here have no idea about setting up wifi?

Some mongrel with a new router has just put it on an overlapping channel, and has clearly just been updating their porn collection...  ....impacting my connectivity:

    Packets: Sent = 588, Received = 345, Lost = 243 (41% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 1971ms, Average = 191ms

'tards.  I think its time to make their life a misery  >:(

General Discussion Area / Games consoles
« on: 18 December 2016, 10:05:13 »
Whilst naughtily scoffing breakie in the lounge watch some trash on the telly (before I go back upstairs to carry on working  >:(), an advert for a games console (think it was Game's expensive offer for seXBOX One with Fifa) came on, promoting a discussion on console prices.  Not that I think they've gone up much - original gayStation was 200, Wii debuted at 175, even the SNES was 130 25yrs ago.

Which got us onto another discussion, about the SNES, as I bought one purely to play Super Mario World.  To this day, I maintain this remains the best platform game ever made, as yet unsurpassed.

Which also cause further discussions about other games, so here is my list of all time tops:

Platform: Super Mario World (SNES)
Car racing: Grand Prix 2 (PC) / Mario Kart Wii

With regard to DOOM, obviously graphics and game engine capabilities have dramatically improved, yet nothing holds the atmosphere of the original.  And nothing else has ever ended up in my nightmares :P

Grand Prix 2 was superseded with Grand Prix 3 and 4, but these were in reality graphical updates, and to make it Windows compatible. Its Multiplayer was only local across serial cable though.

Mario Kart Wii gets a mention for its simplicity, and the online with friends capabilities until they shut the servers down :(
