General Car Chat / oil change (or not)
« on: 26 March 2020, 23:53:47 »
yesterday my car was put in for its mot & a service, 8.30 am. it was ready for 11.30. i supplied the oil as i wanted to make sure it was the one reccomended for the vehicle. the fitment is 3.75 ltrs & it was a 5ltr container that i left with them. my drive from the garage to home is less than 1/2ml. when i took the oil can out of my boot i noticed there was only about 3/4 of a ltr left. so i surmise it had been overfilled. i left it whilst today to check. it was up so i sucked it out with a mitivac , but i was left wondering if they actually changed the oil filter as the oil was black looking. the omegas i have had after an oil change it was quite hard to see it. its got me wondering. :-\

General Discussion Area / builders next door
« on: 20 March 2020, 15:31:57 »
the old lady that lived next door to me was admitted to hospital & after about two months she died. ( age 93 ). the bungalow has been sold & builders are in. now being in that game myself i do know when living next door you can have to put up with noise, but i couldn,t believe this . a wagon turned up with loft insulation , only 8 rolls on a pallet with polythene to protect from damp.. the wagon was equipped with its own forklift but the driver actually dumped the pallet right in the gateway which is the way into both properties. it ended up being there for three days. the only way into both bungalows was to use my driveway gates,

You must look to have deeper pockets than me  ....  :D Main dealer service for SWMBO's C3 (1600 petrol) was 195 last Nov  ;)
turned up as arranged for 10am . had trouble parking when i did had to move my car so a van could be backed off a grass verge. when i did sit down to book my car in the guy that was dealing with me mentioned that a coutesy car wasn,t available for me so i asked him what he expected me to do for 7hrs. he wasn,t bothered. i explained that i live 25mls away & also the nearest public transport took me 5mls from where i live & explained that was the reason i booked a car. still not bothered so i asked to speak to somebody in charge. guess what that person was at a staff training conference whilst thursday. anyway i didn,t leave my car . waiting till thursday , will give that service manager some stick.

General Car Chat / ds 4
« on: 09 March 2020, 20:46:20 »
when i chose to get rid of my dti last july i did so because i spotted my present car , low mileage no road tax & a lot more m.p.g,s also the price was right. regards my dti because i did it myself, an oil change with new filter + sump plug probably cost me about 20. when changing air filter & an occasional pollen filter add another & 20 . tomorrow i am having a service done on my ds4 by the dealer so,s the stamp goes towards upkeep of the warranty at the cost of 309. . plus they want the car from 10am - 5pm. ::)

macafee was the system that came with my present laptop. my subscription is due in april but already i am getting reminders. i dont know if this is a kind of scam or what but last week the machine wasnt responding to anything & out of the blue (just freezing all the time ) an email arrived from macafee offering me a service that would normally cost almost 50 for free if i rang a number & let them take control of the laptop. i ended up rebooting & for the last two days its been ok. plus macafee subscription charge has doubled this coming year.

Screw in front pistons?

Only encountered these on the rears and then when the caliper doubles as the handbrake mechanism  :-\

That notwithstanding, winds the piston home swap the pads out and simply press thee brake pedal to reset the caliper/pads ;)
it was the resetting info i needed , cheers :y
