General Discussion Area / Gogroopie
« on: 11 April 2022, 22:06:30 »
gogroopie are a company that have a catalogue of goods to sell & last december 24th  I ordered an article that was advertised as a bogof deal. when my purchase arrived a single unit only came & it was damaged. it took nearly 2 mths for me to recieve it has it was a china merchant.  i am now at the stage where to get my money back it seems i will have to go to a small claims court. gogroopie will not refund me they have sent me the address in china & told me to send the goods back, but i have stated nobody told me that i was dealing with a chinese merchant & as far as i am concerned it was Gogroopie that i paid. Do i register my claim initially with a county court . i have never been in this situ before & the sum is under £50.

You've gotta love the Mirror.  ;D

The PM goes on a walkabout in Kyiv with President Zelensky and the Mirror's lead story is a removal van moving a few sticks of furniture out of the flat at No10!  ::)  ;D
probably going to make room for a number of Ukranian refugees & he will qualify for the monthly allowance.

i worked in Germany & the cycle lanes seemed to be designed not to interfere with cars & such, paths were wide enough for them in the towns & cities & also when crossing roads the traffic lights displayed a green bicycle for them to cross. schools started a lot earlier than they do in the UK so in a city like Munich would have loads of bikes including 50cc mopeds in cycle lanes ,on footpaths & i don,t recall anyone abusing the system.

If I read that right, they're suggesting new tyres for the next Mot. That's a year away and they could well be down to 3-4mm by then.

Not a bad shout from a plan ahead perspective with a set of decent tyres costing £500...
when i read the list again for tyres they have quoted ( i think) £85 a unit for michelin supremacy.s . cannot be right

last week i took my DS 4 to a ds outlet for a mot & a service. no surprises all was ok but whilst there in the 3-4 hours that they have it they give it a health check and i was informed that my tyres ( not quite a year old ) were down to 5.6mm , all 4 worn evenly but was told they advise getting them changed when i book next years mot. also a similar story regards front discs & pads. no advisories at all with mot

years ago when i was a merchant seaman identifying russian ships was easy. Black sea ports - black funnels with hammer & sickle .  White sea including the Baltic sea - white funnels. my wonder is what if Putin wants Rumania & Bulgaria back under russian rule

General Car Chat / Re: car service reminder
« on: 17 January 2022, 11:45:07 »
The car certainly won't know itself that a service has been carried out, but whoever does it (assuming it isn't yourself) will reset the service light using a service reset tool which are basically incorporated in most decent hand held diagnostic devices (code readers). They can also reset the the service interval to the most appropriate for your usage - on a time basis ( fixed servicing), or on a variable type (which is mileage  / time dependant), and can vary on your particular type / style of driving. I don't know whether a DS has this option or whether is purely a fixed duration servicing, ie annually.
it does have a date or a mileage option & the date is always the one that comes firsl, the reminder though seems an hell of a distance away.

on turning on the ignition on this DS I have, it tells me Service is due in 7500 miles. when i do get a service i dont suppose the car is geared up to know its been done ( or does it ) or does it have to be reset by whom ever does the service ?

« on: 12 January 2022, 11:19:59 »
I did let Evans Halshaw update my satnav in the end . a fixed price £120 . in with the price was a health check of which covered practically everything on the car. the only thing they deemed to be at fault with was the windscreen wipers & advised renewing. also whilst they had my car, in the price of the satnav update was a valet service. so i got it back in a very highly polished state, even the tyres were gleaming.  :y :y

Will require a new memory card from dealer with latest maps or

That wont fix this sadly, as the issue is the base software resetting after short periods of time (probably a memory leak), those are just the map files.  :y
I first got a quote from a DS Dealer & that was £99 to get a diagnosis then the cost on top to fix any issues. they want it for a day & have offered  me a courtesy car for £10 . but appointment is on the 13th. however Evans Halshaw can fit me in on Friday 7th . £20 for diagnostics then if only an update needed £120.
