EVERYBODY uses the roads either directly or indirectly (public transport, carriage of goods, etc.), so why not be honest about it and fund roads directly from general taxation?
That would not alter the amount needed to be collected by government, but at least it would be open and transparent instead of victimising motorists as a funding group.

I can see how that would help you, Albs; you run on take-away oil!  :y :y :y

Churchill was a traitor in my eyes, too.
I've remarked on here before about his subverting the ring-fenced Road Fund Licence that was created solely for road creation and maintenance and the monies so collected promised not to be used for any other purpose. That was the beginning of the use of motorists as cash cows, and we all know how it continued.   >:( >:( >:(

Albs, we need a historian like Lizzie to recall events from so far back as politicians with honour - IF they ever really existed?

Yep, that would do ir. Also, I favour the approach taken by a pub near Wareham; it's called "The Silent Woman" and the inn sign depicts a headless woman - that will stop her moaning!  :y :y :y

Can you get one with a silencer fitted? Or even soft suspension for a comfortable ride?  ;D

IF they moan (other than in the bedroom in a good way) ,
remove their oxygen privileges the day before you pour new footings ,and move on  :y
A trick "Fred the Builder" taught me
I'm on my third , you can get replacements on-line nowadays  :y

On Ebay, Dave? Can you "try before you buy"? Or send them back under warranty if unfit for purpose?  8) 8) 8)

You cynic, Andy!
Actually, I do believe it because she has such a sweet nature and all the blokes around there love her.....

I was at a camera fair a few years back, and in a conversation with one of the regular stallholders, she chanced to mention that she NEVER nagged!
Collapse of all men within earshot.
I checked with her husband and he confirmed - "never has, not ever".
So, it IS possible; trouble is, he wouldn't let me marry her!  :( :( :(

A lifetime skill, I believe.....  :(

To answer that fully I would need to see the data sheets on the grease, but off the cuff I don't see why not. It doesn't degrade when exposed to UV (sunlight) nor high temperatures - it is commonly used as a heat transfer medium in electronics.

Would silicone GREASE be a better bet? It won't wash off in the rain (unless it's a tempest!) and should cut down on the noise.
