General Car Chat / Re: glow plugs ??
« on: 07 September 2019, 14:46:59 »
Why do you suspect that they are not?

Ron.
its my daughter in-laws pug ., sluggish starting , first start from overnight, will sometimes run the battery down. no lights on dash when driving. i intend to check the battery & alternator tomorrow. i suspect it may be the glow plugs as its on a 02 plate , she,s had the car from new & they have never been replaced.
well battery was holding 12.5v  with engine running 14.4v. alternator doing what its intended. glow plugs crap so changed them. alls well now. :y :y

From what I understand,  there are O rings in or around the injectors that, when they fail, allow air into the system and fuel to drain back into the tank so on the first start of the day the the fuel pump needs to drag fuel up from the tank first.  :-\

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Re: 2.2 dti bits

General experience says the non-GM steering idlers don't last two mins/have more play than the used ones they're supposed to replace - but you saw 5 years on one - what make was it, out of interest?

(this is me assuming this is a non-GM idler, of course!)
dont know the make. just seems a shame to take everything to the tip when an oof member may make some use of. i also have some 10/40 oil enough to probably do a couple of oil changes.

Yep the DS "brand" is the Citroen/PSA attempt to move upmarket in the same way Toyota did with the Lexus.I've always found the DS4 a slightly curious design in as much as although a 4 door hatch there is no provision for opening the windows of the rear doors, form over function?
in the short time i have had it the rear windows are not an issue . the a/c is very cold, also on the economy side its costing me a fair bit cheaper to insure & with zero road tax, plus more m.p.g.. downside i am at the mo doing a bit of landscaping at my house & the wife is not allowing this vehicle to be used as a site barrow ;D i could get allsorts in the mig.  :y

General Car Chat / value of my omega
« on: 16 July 2019, 20:32:00 »
today i decided to look into the vx scrappage deal. the value of my dti came out as " good condition 320 - average 100 - shoddy 90. never gone into debt to buy a car & the thought of doing so puts me off. also also i know that i can jump into my mig & no matter what the distant i want to travel i am confident it,s going to make it. the wife is nagging me to get something modern.
