Going on the MOT history it doesn't sound as though it's had much TLC in it's time.

General Car Chat / Re: How long have you had your Omega?
« on: 15 July 2016, 19:54:08 »
I've had 4 so far. first one in june last year from an auction a 2.6 CD auto saloon in silver which had oil starvation problems so the engine died. then a 2.5 elite auto in silver which was written off in January this year by a Frenchman in a rented mokka. and in between those two there was a 2.2 GLS estate in nocturno blue with ventilated sills and chassis legs which was bought by a banger racer. and the current money pit bought in February from the insurance payout (eventually) is a nocturno blue 3.2 elite estate which needs rear shocks and the headlamp sensor before i even attempt to present it for it's MOT next month.

I bought an alternator from them too and it still works...

I just assumed that as I've replaced the belt/tensioner as well as the alternator that it should not be any of them making the noise as it disappears within a few minutes.

Someone posted about a squeak from their car and it turned out to be the tensioner. so as mine was making the same noise I changed it only to find out it was the cambelt tensioner. and I'm still waiting for my new cambelt kit to turn up from a company I ordered it from on Wednesday and paid the extra postage to make sure it got here in double quick time.

As nick says get someone to get it somewhere near straight again and put it back together yourself. as my sisters 07 astra is having similar work done to it despite the insurers wanting it to be scrapped even though theres no damage to the boot floor or chassis legs.

Finally changed the rear pads as they were down to the backing plates.

Spotted a black saloon earlier on corporation road Newport. but didn't get the number as I was daydreaming at the time and missed it.

Attempted to stop my rear chassis legs from disappearing completely by rubbing down with a wire brush and then daubing fertan rust killer on them. I still have to get the rear pads changed and probably the discs too.

It's not that long ago I fitted a recon alternator to my 3.2 estate. because one day I thought the drivebelt was looking a bit tatty so I went and bought a new belt, tensioner and waterpump thinking that i'd treat the car to some new parts. but I found out the waterpump wasn't quite the same as the original and if fitted would result in the pulley being further in towards the engine and the fixing bolts would hit the pump casing so that little exercise stopped before it started. but I thought i'll put the new belt on anyway and all went well until I got about 5 miles down the road and the alternator died on me and then when id finished that I took it for another drive only to have the oil light come on.
