V6 Multi-Ram
« on: 25 January 2017, 10:45:10 »

Are they the same across all V6? - Can I source pipework of a 3.0/2.5 for my 3.2?

Need to get it from a breaker, need all pipework as bit on my 3.2 is bust. Vacuume loss means terrible MPG. Around 20!

Is it best to seal vac leak off or just leave it?

Seal any vacuum leaks off  :y

I pretty sure all v6 vacuum pipes are the same if they came off a car with 2 vacuum reservoirs.

That sounds about the same as when my multiram packed up (as diagnosed by Kev in the car park of the curry house, IIRC ;D)..

Broken nipples, never good.

Yes, that would knacker the economy (and the performance, the heater, possibly the brake servo..).

Pretty sure you could source the pipe from most V6s. Best to make it from a long plenum model in case they changed the location of the union on the plenum.

Vacuum pipe to plenum length is the same on all v6's Kev  :y
The only pipe that a different length is the one underneath to the throttle body  :y

Quick question the actual valve it self, it looks like it's there to join the two larger bits of pipework together, with this outlet at the top.

Is it easy to replace just this valve? When I looked the plastic is all super hard and does not look like it easily comes apart.

Soak it in or pour over hot water?  :-\

Brake vacuum pipe on 2.5/3.0 V6 is different from 2.6/3.2 V6.
Older one has two nipples (one for Mulitrams, other for SAI), later has only one nipple (as no SAI).

Recover the snapped off part fro the rubber coupling and measure the OD.

Drill into the valve assembly around 4-5mm with the correct size drill to march the OD.

Insert the snapped off part into the hole (it should be a reasonably comfortable fit) with some suitable glue applied

The  rotate the whole valve assembly so it points downwards like it should do.

Worth checking / resetting LT fuel trim if it's been leaking a while?  :y

Thanks, did not think of that.  :-[

I'll check my drill bits, do you think the snapped off part within the T piece will be long enough, once re-inserted?

Trip to KW or Little Fatty then for a tune up once sorted.  :)

Thanks, will ensure I get replacement of DBW then. But i'll try fixing current one first.  :)

Yes, successfully done this a few times on a few cars, you effectively lose about 4-5mm so not a huge percentage smaller :y

Yes, didn't think of that but you're quite right. :y

The later pipe does split in 2 at a T piece , so you can always ditch the T piece and run the heater supply from one and the multiram supply from the other if you've got a few right angled connectors spare.

The servo pipe can be disassembled by first soaking in near boiling water ;)

Dragging this thread up, Iíve done another temp fix it, as last one failed, using this.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/RpanvyghWT1EUGcQA

It slotted straight in to snapped off section, Iíve glued it in and popped feed pipe on.

Iíve been missing out on performance, noticed a huge improvement! Especially around 3-4K rpm and 30-80mph pull.

Very happy!

The pipe is tad smaller in diameter, so bit less air/vac?  :-\

But still get a proper replacement part. Else we'll be dragging this shit up again in a few weeks.

It would take less time to replace the part than it took you to hacksaw the valve adapter.

Hello,

Can anyone tell the code of the part on the first photo (page 1, post #2)

Thanks.

Itís near impossible to fit that part alone.

You are better doing what Iíve done and get a complete brake servo to plenum pipework.

Temp fix, bicycle inflation metal tube thing pictures works well  :y
