Fault code P1781

I have the airbag light on the dash, now an MOT failure I believe  :'(
I get P0727 can receipt error
P1781 receive error
then P1781 drivers side airbag

Does anyone know where I should start looking  :D

check connections to air bag,and pretensioners to start with.

cant get to the airbag connections  :( Dont know where the pretensioners are  :'(

Prime candidates are the connectors under the drivers seat. Pretensioner is in the base of the drivers seat, air bag is in the side of the drivers seat-back.

Raise the seat as high as it will go and you should find a bunch of cables and connectors hiding next to the seat runner under the drivers seat. Check the all the plugs are secure and that the cables haven't got chewed up by the seat runner.

Ah I changed both the front seats for leather ones. the connections were coloured plugs,,, all looked good. :y

With ignition off??. Seats same spec or from Elite??
Ignition only has to be switched on for a moment with the airbag disconnected to store a fault.

Have you tried clearing the codes? What reader are you using? (Other members might advise not trying to reset with certain devices...........)

The seats were from my cdx this car is a cd, both face lift.  the light was on before I changed the seats & still on now. will ask the guy what reader he used to pull the codes.

OK so you have already replaced the air bag & pretensioner so well worth resetting the ECU (preferably with Tech 2)

he reset it and read the codes with his own unit and a tech2 ???
