handbrake/dash light
« on: 12 June 2013, 13:57:46 »

afternoon all
im just looking for some advice as to what might be going on with my handbrake light..
i have just taken the dash out to try and find out why my emissions light is flickering all the time. ??? i thought it was the EML light but now realise its the emissions light, car has been scanned and no codes stored..?? ???
anyway back to the handbrake light.. i have only just realised that the light does not come on when the handbrake is applied..the light works fine when first turning on the ignition all the lights are there, but not when i apply the handbrake...any ideas where i might start looking..?? my mot is in two weeks and this is failure i think, as is the emissions light..
cheers

For the Emission Light...

1.Brim the tank with Shell V power nitro+ and a can of Wynns petrol injector cleaner.

2.Take the car for a good thrashing, then when the fuel light comes on repeat step 1.

After that only use that Shell fuel, and you should never see the emissions light again.

For the hand brake light, the switch is inside the car, buried under the centre console. Think it is mounted beneath the hand brake lever :y

So basically clear the surround/cup holder out, unbolt the lever mechanism and lift out :-\

Shouldn't need to lift it too far to check the plug, and probably easier if the hand brake is off so that there's no tension in the cable :y

Does it come on when you remove the brake reservoir cap?

Has the instrument cluster been changed?
