Decided to do the scuttle seal thing today,While it was off i cleaned out the drain holes and looked over at the powersounder and thought ..You can go too.

unbolted and removed it..Not a single beep..It was silent,, So i thought ,I need to look inside And fix you..
So i took it in the garage covered it with a carpet sample And sunk a lump hammer straight into it.

I guess the previous owner was lucky...

Need to do that operation on mine too , can't take any chances . Looks like that one is well burnt

Just as a thought, but I don't for one moment think an insurance bod will go looking for it, could the batteries not be unclipped and then the unit put back in the car as though nothing had happened. So anyone nosing would see a unit in place. Just a thought, as some people seem worried about disposing of it.

Had to be a carpet sample else power sounder would of had the last laugh,With the case bits in my eye 

Took two power sounders out now and never had any of them beep away once unplugged.
This one fair enough it was Knackered ,But the one out the 2.2 was Three beeps when you exit the car so I knew it needed to come out. And that one too came silently.

I recon that is burning, there is no acid in a NiCad (only an alkaline electrolyte....and not much of it, certainly not enough to cover that area)

The gunge in the batteries is about that colour...

Is it a sealed unit , i never did get round to operating on the old one

I got new batteries for mine (took some finding) but never got around to it.

It is Fire Damage..But on saying that, Each green Batt pack is made up of 3 small batts And Inside they Are wet (leaking)

Battery 'acid' is abit of a misnomer, but alkaline substances will corrode just as effectively as acidic ones

I've still yet to remove my powersounder , am i right to think i just need to disconnect it and wrap the connector up in tape or does it actually have to be removed?
