It's a work on progress, I had intended to keep this thread FL only & tbh I'm not overly familiar with PFL alloys apart from the Elite/MV6 alloys.

Seriously though, I was sure enough that the PFL CDX wheels did look like them while also the early FL GLS alloys looking similar.  :-\

Also maybe worth doing 2 different sets of alloy identification threads separate for PFL & FL maybe.

plus your misPFL CDX is wrong, sing some, MFL MV6, MFL + PFL, GLS, CD/CDX, Tourer, Elite and Soft Stars .

Easy tiger  ;D ;D . . . . Mr.Omegaman has taken on the challenge of making this guide & readily admits he does not know all the types of wheels & that the guide is work in progress.

Could you , or indeed any Oofer, post up pictures with ID, into the original thread ,  of what you think is missing & maybe Mr.Omegaman can add them to his guide to make complete .

What do you think the alloy labelled as PFL  CDX is from then ?

SOrry but Mr Omegaman is quite correct, they are PFL CDX, they're just MFL, so 97-99. The CDX ones pictured are almost the same as FL GLS style, just with a bit of what looks like time on a lathe, and a coat of lacquer on the FLs.

Other PFL CDX alloys are the type shown below.

(a better pic I'm sure is out there. Possibly involving me walking outside and taking a pic of my car, but that involves getting up  ;) )

Here you can see the strong similarity between the MFL CDX and the FL GLS alloys...

My personal theory is they re-used the dies with a small modification, and 'blinged' them up a bit with a polished surface. The only difference being the small 'lumps' on each spoke are lost.

As Terbs says this little info guide is coming together nicely  :

So pictures needed of  MFL 16"  Elite  & the MFL  Irmscher MV6  ones .

I think I'm right in saying the MFL Irmscher MV6 wheels are what Gary FFC has on his PFL estate that was at Wycombe

Anyone suggest what else is missing from the range ?  & if so  can you  possibly post them up  ;)

:) No, not at all. I just own all the brochures, downloaded into my head since the age of 10yrs old onward  ;D

I remember the early days of OOF where every post stated any of the following - 'facelift' or 'the ones with colour coded bumpers' or 'black bumpered one' 'earl Omega' 'it's a 2000 my' etc. all of which can be ambiguous, and unintentionally misleading.

'Omega B' and Omega C' were terms which I suggested, which though not actually strictly official (There was no Omega C) does fit given the vast number of changes on the PFL/MFL versus the FL, essentially leaving just the 'body in white' unchanged. (Think MGF versus MGTF) which was disagreed with on the grounds that is wasn't an official Vauxhall term. Henceforth the (equally unofficial) terms PFL, MFL and FL were introduced.

Though traditionally the view is Vauxhall gave up on the Omega, and they shouldn't have axed it, they showed great confidence in the design, giving it a massive 'facelift' for 2000, costing 180mill, which I doubt they really got all of that back. The Omega had, after the industry-typical 3-4 years, already had a facelift (what we now refer to as the MFL) which included new engines, new safety features, new seats, trims, specs, new alloys, new colours, new tech; again, as per industry standard. Not many cars can claim the last cars being registered almost 10 years after the first ones these days.  :)

Giving another facelift in 2000 which would eventually include a V8 version I suppose the thought would keep the Omega alive as a range-topper. The V8 was cancelled, however, as we all know. Anyway, I'm digressing from alloys a bit there, but all info, nevertheless  :y

Also, saddo alert, here's the earliest Elite alloys, which no-one remembers...

Is there anything on here that is appropriate :)

Wow !   Not got time at the moment to go through it all  . . .but there must be plenty of high quality pics on there to make up a complete "Wheel Guide" for Oof.  Just need someone who knows what they are doing with a PC to put it all together  :-\

Nice find Tony  :y :y

With a bit of time I could scan in all the relevant images in all my brochures from 1994 to 2003, for a comprehensive record. Sadly, the first five words of that sentence are the sticking point...  :-[

Should make a new forum the Omega Owner Who Remember the Early Elite Wheels Forum' The 'OOWREEWF'

Which is interestingly enough the exact noise that my back tyre makes when I take the roundabout near work at over 35mph  :D
