CD Player Cleaner
« on: 06 April 2017, 17:18:30 »

I have been having trouble with my CD player.  It started not to recognise discs 3 and 4 in the magazine, then would not  recognise any discs at all.  I was thinking of going to a local specialist car audio company and getting them to sort it out, at no doubt a fair price.

But then I stopped myself and thought it could be a dirty lens issue.  So I bought Allsop ProLens Laser Lens Diagnostic Cleaner for DVD and CD for £7.49, with free postage.  Used it once in my player and all is suddenly sorted!

What a great product, that also runs through tracks of diagonistic checks on your system, it's speakers, the lot! :y :y :y

Not sure which unit the MV6 comes with. A 3.0 V6 X-Type Mondeo that I briefly owned came with a 6CD player situated in the boot.

I seem to recall encountering similar problems to the ones you describe.

Don't let a fatty little admin or Dave DN read this  ::)

It may only resolve it as a temp solution, general view is those things do more damage than good.

If it was shagged, nought to lose.  But I suspect it won't last to long.

Might be worth keeping an eye out for a known good replacement changer section, just as a spare.  Swap over is "easy" but tad fiddly in places. Patience needed.

Yes, and I am doing that as well but I cannot see one listed anywhere ;)

That's because I bought most of them, due to my fascination of playing CDRs ;)

I could do with clearing some of my shelves to make room for more bits

He may have, but what condition is a player going to be in probably coming from a car with far more miles on the clock than mine? Unlike other general spare parts, some electronic device without any history cannot be trusted. It could be off a miggie that has been badly maintained and treated, with 150k on the clock.  I'd sooner work on keeping my existing one working, as it has suddenly done today after a lens clean. :y

I bought most of them (and promptly blew up about 80% of my stock), and you bought the rest ;D

I think current stock levels are down to three spare 2013's, three GID's, one CID and a Telematics.... So only just enough spares for the current fleet  ::)

My levels are now probably similar, might not even be that many NCDC2013s.  I do, however, have a mint one, that will be used to keep TBE going.

I do have a couple of CCR2006 and a couple of CDC3, and a box or two of NCDC "bits"
